Greenedog i wouldnt quit just yet I have done the same thing lol One time i missed a 25 yards shot at one out of a group of 5 does. shot a foot under her then they stopped again and shot under another at 35 yards. Then looked to my left and a deer i hadnt seen yet came over to check out what all the commotion was about. I stopped it at 40 yards and shot just over that one ! Lol I ran out of arrows, got down and retrievbed my arrows and called it quits for a few days lol I was very disappointed. Another time there was dogs chasing deer thru the woods and i was on the ground. a small doe ran down a deer trail i was standing by and i shot at her from 35 yards shot way under her. she stood there and with the dogs getting closer i rushed the next THREE shots and missed all of em. Of course this was when i was starting out but still hahaha.
Then what really hurt me was watching the biggest buck I have ever shot walking out of my life with my arrow waving from its shoulder when i know just a couple inches back and id had my hands on him.. Not knowing if he will survive or not. That's enough to make you sick. And then all your friends at school have to rub it in your face and tease you about it.. lol they should be smarter than that! IT sucks! Just gotta keep at it. Thats what makes the success even sweeter. The more mistakes you make just make you that much smarter and wiser if you know how to learn from them.

I don't think he is quitting. I think he is just changing his method by going to the crossbow. If you've ever tried to shoot a bow with shoulder problems you know how difficult this can be. I don't blame him for going the crossbow route.

Yep. I'm selling my bow. If I archery hunt next year it will be with a crossbow. Troy, I don't blame you for going to the crossbow. Especially with the problems your shoulder is giving you. With all the positives you get with a crossbow (scope, extended range, no draw weight to hold, etc) there is one major drawback I would like to point out...If a deer is behind you it is virtually impossible to shoot him with a crossbow because the tree gets in the way of the limbs. I'm pointing this out because I know several guys who've made the switch to a crossbow and they didn't realize until they were in their stands how much of a problem this can be.

Well... Completely whiffed with my muzzle loader this morning! 25 yards! Wide open and perfect broadside shot! I rushed the shot though! So frustrating I am about done with these open sights on my muzzle loader!

Ohh okay i wasnt aware that he was having shoulder or back problems,, Im just not a big fan of crossbows I just dont like that its really more of a gun than a bow lol its kinda like how close to being a gun can you get while still being able to call it "archery" lol But if someone is physically having trouble using a bow than im all for it. Of course alot of the trad hunters probly feel the same way about people that use compounds HAHAHA
