Nice job, Chase. Glad to see you were able to get out and get it done.

Chase's video......the recoil caused him to bump the main camera on the shot, that's why the "kill" is missing.

Okay I love Chase's signature "Yesss!" after he kills it. Brings me back to the first buck video lol!

Nice job Chase. With school and work taking all your time seems to me you earned a hunt like this. Congrats. Love the still image from the video.

Congrats Chase. Sam passed on a fork horn and had a button buck under his stand last night. I got up at 5 this morning to go to work and could see 5 does in the yard in the moonlight. Think Sam might try it again this evening.

Frenchy got him one! He called me this morning asking if I could help with the drag. Killed it with his 44.

Interesting that the buck doesn't have eye guards.
There's a buck like that running around the West Island area.

Tagged this little 8 on Saturday morning. Me and him had a a short history that actually started the evening before...On the last evening of early archery this guy passed me at about 50 yds about right at sunset. I couldn't see his rack real well so I thought I better try calling him in to at least get a better look. I started with a doe call and that never got his attention, then I tried a couple of mature buck grunts and that got him to stop and look my way but he was still in some cover so I couldn't get the look I wanted of his rack. He continued walking about another 15 - 20 yds away from me and I tried a couple more grunts. This got him to stop again but once again he wouldn't come in to look. I let about 5 minutes or so pass by and I couldn't hear him moving around anymore but I was pretty certain he was still in the woods straight north of me about 60-70 yds. Next I thought what the heck, I might as well try rattling him in and see what happens. I rattled softly at first and didn't get him to commit and then rattled a little more intensely. Well, as I suspected he was still in the same spot where I had last heard him and he was beginning to walk towards me...albeit very slowly. By this time, it's gotten dark enough that I can no longer see my pins and I can barely see in the woods. I decide I better get down for he gets too close then I'll get stuck in my stand. So, I climb out of my stand very quietly and exit the woods. As I am walking across the field I hear leaves rustling around in the woods and the sound is getting closer to my stand but I can't see the deer because it is too dark. I continue heading across the field and as get about 100 yds away from the woods I look back and I can see the deer is coming right for me! I get down on one knee to see how close he will get. As he is closing in I start thinking to myself "there is no way I can shoot him it is way too dark". He gets about 50 yds out from me and I can see he is starting to side step and his hair on his spine is standing straight up. Now I realize I am in a bad situation so I stand up to see if it will run him off but he just stands there and stares at me and keeps pawing the ground. I decided to try to walk away and he he stands there and just watches me walk off. A pretty hairy situation to say the least. Fast forward to saturday morning... I'm sitting in my stand in a different woods about 500 yds SW from where my buck encounter happened the night before. It has been a pretty quiet up to this point with only a few shots being heard...one of those was my buddy putting down a big fat doe across the field from me. I look to my northwest and see two deer cutting across the field about 200 yds from me. I can tell the back one is a little buck. I grab my gun and observe him with my scope and realize that this is the buck from last night. I have a 100yd wide open shot but pass because I was hoping for something a little bigger. They step into the woods so I try a few grunts to see if I can get an even better look before pulling the trigger. The doe makes an appearance about 50 yds up in the woods but the buck never comes out of the cover enough for me to see him and then I lost them. 10 minutes pass and those are the only 2 deer had seen up to that point and the shots were few and far between and in the meantime I see that an unknown person is sitting in my stand that I sat in the night before. I started thinking to myself "maybe I should've just that buck while I had the chance". Not long after that a doe appears out of nowhere about 70 yds to my left. I figured this was probably the doe that the buck was chasing. I was right. She stayed out in the field and continued past me at about 50 yds and was heading right for the unknown hunter in my other stand. The buck walks right up the edge of the woods and stands 10 yds from me. I still chose to pass on him. He starts angling out to where the doe is and she continues on towards where the hunter is. I let the buck get out about 50 yds and he was about to take off running to catch up with the doe. I was checking him out from the back view and noticed he had a respectable spread and nice dagger brow tines. I was afraid he would head right across the field to that other guy so I decided I better end this deal right now. I made a couple of "baaah's" with my mouth and he turns around and starts walking right to me. He then decides to angle across the field so that he could get wind of me. I stick my gun through the fork in a tree and make a good quartering away shot with my muzzleloader at about 50 yds. Shot right through the heart and jellied one lung. He ran about 80-100 yds before piling up. Not the deer I had hoped for this year but it beats a tag sandwich...turns out it was the same buck I had the encounter with the night before

That's a good buck. Congrats.
Good story, too. I'm curious about the stand squatter as well.
