I was finishing up the video and movie maker decided to quit working, closed program and lost all progress...everything basically. Gonna take a smoke break and then start back in on it. Can't believe I just wasted roughly 2 hours for nothing. All that trimming. Took 16 minutes worth of video and cut it down to just over 7. Oh well...should go quicker this time. Been there...done that. I've since learned to hit the "save project" every 10 minutes or so just in case a crash happens. That way you don't have to start from scratch.

Sam and I were in Troy and Chase's buddy stand for 8 hours today and didn't see anything that even looked like a deer. Weren't as many shots as we're used to hearing opening day either. I guess I'll blame it on the wind.... Tomorrow sounds like a wash too with severe storms and 72 degrees.

My opening day was a bust. Didn't see any deer in the morning but I did manage my first coyote kill. Went back out in the evening and took my niece with me. We seen 2 does but both were too far out to get a shot at. Thought about going out this morning but decided against it. I'll work M-W this week and then I'm off another 11 days. I have a feeling those 3 days of work this week will not be pleasant.

well my opening day went horribly. i had to work in the afternoon so i went out in the morning and about 30minutes in i heard what sounded like a truck hitting the ditch up on the road. i just wrote it opff and didnt end up seeing anything. well i was talking to the farmer today and that noise i hear was actually a truck hitting what sounds like was my monster buck i was chasing. it didnt die on the road and they search the fields right abouve where i was hunting and didnt find it. but i did hear a loud crash up from where i was at and didnt hear anything else saturday morning. so tomorrow once the storms have cleared im gonna walk in there and see if i can find him. i really really hope it just wounded him and he made it. but if not im gonna give it my best to try to find him soon before the squirrels and coyotes get it.

well opening morning passed on a little buck at daylight and heard very few shots til about 9 am they must have started moving because the shots were going off all over the place from about 8:45- 9:30 so im sittin there and i look behind me and i see a doe standing there . i had my bow and the 44 i was going to shoot a doe with the bow so i wouldnt scare anything off. But the doe came in about 35 yards away where there were some limbs aaround and didnt think it would be smart to try a shot with the bow so i decided id go ahead and use the gun and make a little noise. well it had another with it and one of them finally stepped out in between 2 trees i shot and they all jumped real big and i couldnt tell which one i had shot at. the smaller one stood there looking around for about 5 minutes while the other one barreled out of there like it had been hit. After watched the video very carefully i realized the one i had shot at was the one that just stood there. Found no blood and i didnt want to shoot at it again cuz i thought i had got the other one. Then dad texted me and said a bobcat just walked thru my food plot. About 15 minutes later i saw it come by at 30 yards and managed to get the camera turned on to get 8 seconds of video of it before it walked off into the brush! Pretty rare around here some say they are fairly common but ive only seen one and blurry pic of one on my trail cam before.
Then on the evening hunt i went huntin back on a farmers land he doesnt let a whole lot of ppl hunt his land so its kinda one of those things where its loaded with deer but you wouldnt think there would be any there. Theres alot of big pasture and some small woodlots and a big CRP field in the back and the deer will be bedded in there just about anywhere and show up out of nowhere. So i took the long way around thru his pasture to keep from spooking the deer. I ended up sitting on the ground on a ridge top with a thick bedding area at the end and a major deer trail runnin the ridge to a hay field. I jsut got settled down and look up and saw a guy with no orange on walking up the hill to an old climber stuck on a tree. I had just taken off my orange vest to take my jacket off and he didnt know i was there. Then i turned my camera on and tried to get himn on video but couldnt find him on the camera and then he saw me and hid behind a tree, I put my orange vest back on and wlaked out in the open where he could see me and stood there for awhile and i saw him peeking from behind a tree(he was on his knees at this point) then i waved at himlol. So I decide i better go talk to this idiot.walk up there asked him whos land he is hunting on and he knew what land he was on and claimed he had permission. MEanwhile he is unfolding an orange vest and putting it on.... left his gun behind a tree where i couldnt see it.. I asked what his name was and he wouldnt tell me his first name. So I would have called the CO but i was not really sure whther ot not he really had permission. So he called someone and they picked him up at the road i went back to huntin and then later on killed a button buck that would have been standing right between the two of us.. Gutted it out and left the gut pile on his treestand. Then talked to the ownere and as i suspected he told me that guy was telling me a bunch of bulls**t. Next time i go down there ill sit right by his treestand and then if he shows up if he starts saying anything to me im going to tell him to leave and if he doesnt im going to call a CO and report him for hunter harassment. haha Some people are just stupid. His whole family is basically the most well known poachers-trespassers of the area and the Conservaton officers know it too.

well my season just turned a little more sour today. i just completely whiffed a 75 yard shot at a nice buck with my muzzleloader. theres nothing to really blame it on. it was 3:30 so it was definately plenty bright enough, had no clue i was there, standing still in an open field, nothing inbetween us, just goofed it. ah well seasons still young.

Nice stories guys! My season lasted a whole two hours. I bought a tag last night and this evening was the first time I went. I was sitting in one of the stands in our woods and really wasn't expecting much. I was just happy to finally be in the woods! I could see a few deer in the far corner and noticed one of them had horns. I grunted a few times and this little ten pointer ended up walking right to me. I've never had a hunt go so smoothly. I even got pretty good video! Good luck the rest of the season guys! Still from the video
