Heck of a shot! He was pretty pumped about the shot... even though it's not huge it's good for the slow season we have had here.

Just got a text from a buddy in Linton who said he saw the most deer today that he's ever saw in his 29 years of hunting. I don't get it!! I don't get it either! I hunted hard this entire weekend and Monday as well. Only saw a couple of little bucks and very few does. I'm stymied and frustrated at this point The best day of the year prediction was a major bust for me. However, Field and Stream has been pretty accurate in year's past from what I have witnessed.

However, Field and Stream has been pretty accurate in year's past from what I have witnessed. That's what I've found to be the norm too.....and from the looks of jonboy's buck.....I'd say they were right! My buddy sent me a couple videos of deer from yesterday. I was going to post them, but it's crappy cell phone video and he must be 35' up. He was definitely surrounded by them. He hunts some private farm ground on the edge of the Forest and probably gets to see all the deer that are ran out of there over the weekend. I woke up at 4:30 with a stomach bug that Colt has been fighting. I'm gonna try a mid-day hunt though....need to fill that archery tag before the guns start blazing.

Taste buds are still off a bit but starting to feel better. Probably sight the 450 in tomorrow rather than sit in a stand. My guess is I'll still have the cough/sneeze thing going tomorrow even though it's not nearly as bad today.

Sat from around 11 til 1:30 and didn't see a thing. Ate some soup and if I don't have to run to the bathroom here in the next half hour, I'm gonna try a different spot. Might have to go shoot one of Monty's pets if this doesn't work!

Yup, this is the second time I've had it. First was in the beginning of September and that was borderline bronchitis. It was cold Friday, warmed back up Saturday and I was out late Saturday night when it cooled back off and that's all it took. I could feel it setting in before I went to bed early Sunday morning. I've got the "smoker's" cough to go with it so that really doesn't help any. Feels like I'm getting hit in the chest with a sledge hammer when I cough.

Tried a different spot this evening and actually saw a couple deer. Heard some grunting so I grunted back and a forkhorn came over the hill, then saw a button buck right at dark. They'd be hanging in the garage right now if they'd come close enough. Got the OK from Catfishsam and Monty to hunt their place tomorrow, so I might do that. Brown and down time....don't want to eat this last archery tag.

I take it you are not planning on gun hunting this year? If I would've filled my 2nd archery tag on a doe I might have gun hunted for horns. Might just wait now and see if "Peckerhead" comes back for more persimmons.

OK, still not 100% but heading over that way today to sight the gun in. Don't want to do it tomorrow so today's the day. May even take the camera with me and shoot some video. I'll see how it turns out.

Well, working on the video for the 450. I am pleased with the way it shot. Recoil is manageable. No worse than a 20 gauge; definitely does not kick like a 12 gauge slug. When it's ready I'll post it in "my guns" thread in the gun section. My voice is off a bit due to my sinuses but you should be able to understand me for the most part. Give me an hour or so. Got some editing to do.

I was finishing up the video and movie maker decided to quit working, closed program and lost all progress...everything basically. Gonna take a smoke break and then start back in on it. Can't believe I just wasted roughly 2 hours for nothing. All that trimming. Took 16 minutes worth of video and cut it down to just over 7. Oh well...should go quicker this time.
