Sunday I fished the lake my buddies FIL lives on. Took us awhile to figure out where the hell the fish were out. Turns out they were shallow. Less than 7 feet. By the time we found them it was almost time to head out.

Got my first yellow perch in January up at Lake Webster. Apparently there's some in Monroe and Lemon, but I've never caught one. Nice job. Sounds like a good creek to fish.

Well I didn't make it to Glendale or Cagles Mill. The wife held us up with some stuff she needed to get done Sunday morning. Went to Monroe instead. Dragged jigs and crawlers in the Salt Creek Idle zone. I didn't feel like going anywhere else and joining the rat race on the open lake. Picked off a few "decent" gills for Monroe standards and the typical yellow bass in 10-15 foot of water. No walleye which is what I was after.

I'm debating whether to go to Glendale or Cagles mill tomorrow. Never been to either lake. Anyone heard any reports lately or have any tips to get me started on new water?

I had to cast out as far as I could in the middle. It was probably about 8 foot there, which isn't the deepest part of the pond, where I normally can bag a few. I tied the smallest red ratso I had(I think 1/50oz) and tipped it with a bee moth. fished it about a foot off the bottom.
I bet 3-4 gnats got in my damn eyes. Bring on the ice!!

It's been awhile since I've done any serious pan fishing so I headed out after work last night to one of my holes in the national forest. It took over an hour to figure out where the fish were at and what they wanted to eat. Very tough bite, but I did manage to take a few home. Bugs were terrible!!

I bet by the end of September you could get any size Jon boat on there and be ok. If you wanted to get on sooner you could always launch at cutright and stay on the idle only side of the lake. I doubt I'll get back on until after Labor Day. I only have a 15 footer and it gets hairy really quick out there. Let me know when you go if you want some company

I went chasing walleye at Monroe last Saturday and Sunday while my in-laws were camping at Paynetown. Ended up with some dink crappie, yellow bass, and an eater cat. Boat traffic was terrible. I remember why I don't fish Monroe much at all.
Monroe is up 9.9 feet so lots of brush and timber under water. I did well this spring fishing the Farifax peninsula when it was flooded. The cat population is healthy there. I would think you could catch one about anywhere.
