Went out this morning to a pit I enjoy fishing a lot. The bass fishing was on FIRE! Berkley Pit Boss's were the breakfast of choice. Caught a few big bluegill, but was mainly after the bass. Made for a heck of a mess for fish. Anybody else done any good? I have had a hankering to go over to Monroe Lake and do some catfishing sometime, but have yet to make it. I don't know where a good spot would be to go from over there as well. Tight lines everybody.

I went chasing walleye at Monroe last Saturday and Sunday while my in-laws were camping at Paynetown. Ended up with some dink crappie, yellow bass, and an eater cat. Boat traffic was terrible. I remember why I don't fish Monroe much at all.
Monroe is up 9.9 feet so lots of brush and timber under water. I did well this spring fishing the Farifax peninsula when it was flooded. The cat population is healthy there. I would think you could catch one about anywhere.

I have been itching to go over there sometime for a few years now. I don't have a boat big enough, so bank fishing might be my meal ticket over there.

I bet by the end of September you could get any size Jon boat on there and be ok. If you wanted to get on sooner you could always launch at cutright and stay on the idle only side of the lake. I doubt I'll get back on until after Labor Day. I only have a 15 footer and it gets hairy really quick out there. Let me know when you go if you want some company

Thanks. Will do buddy! Sounds like a fun time. I always heard that if you go over there fishing through the week it isn't too bad, but I didn't know for sure. Def wouldn't want to be there on a weekend I don't think.

You're right. Weekdays aren't too bad.
