Same here.. my gmas pond is almost dried up. The corn isnt doing good, and the soybeans are in really bad shape. We got a some rain for about 30 minutes last sunday night, but when its 105 outside almost all day long, it dries up again pretty fast. Ive been leaving my windows down on the truck so that it will rain, lol

I need some advice from the carp fishermen on how to catch a carp. I went fishin in a small creek tonight and in one area before a big log jam there were praobably 20-30 carp just sitting there together near the surface..some of them looked like 20+ lbs and there were 3 different species. There were common's and it looked like a few big grass carp, and some other smaller carp that i first thought were drum. I was using some mulberry carp bait with no sinker under a bobber about 8" deep and it was right in front of their face for about 15 minutes and they acted like it wasnt there, they just swam right past it.. and they wouldnt take a nightcrawler either.. I just want someone to tell me what they would try in my situation... or tell me how you catch carp - like what bait, hook, rig, how long do you wait for a bite, etc. I have landed 2 carp before and they were both snagged. I never can get one to bite when i want to, however sometimes in the white river i will hook into one on my fly rod or hook one while fishin for bluegill with worms.

Last weekend i was catchin some real nice ones. I was fishin in some small coves comin off the lake, they were holding in there getting ready to spawn. some of them had beds made ,but werent on them. The water is wayyy down so i think thats why they arent spawning yet. Most of them were about 7 3/4" but a few were over 8".

I never have much luck at night either.. I usually catch little catfish at night and even then I have to wait a lot longer for a bite.

HAs anyone heard of//made bottlecap lures??? I was bored so i decided to make one and i went to the pond to try it and geuss what? IT WORKED!! They are super easy to make, you just need a bottle cap, split rings, a treble hook, a small swivel, some bb's, pliers and a drill+small drill bit or a nail punch. I might make a video of how i made mine..theres vids on youtube but the one i made will actually spin and flash in the water when you reel it in.. I caught 5 bass on it in about 20 minutes. and had a bass chase it and hit it 3 times.. Im goin to walmart to get some more treble hooks and split rings and ill probly be making a whole bunch of em, lol

Took a little trip down to the slew or maybe its slough?? took my new kayak ,a couple poles,a net, my tackle boxes, some sunscreen and a bottle of water. I slipped my kayak in there and cruised down the edge and saw somethin jump on the edge, so i took my ultra light -rigged with a small white roostertail spinner, and made a cast just past it, and a little gar grabbed it. he fought pretty good and i finally got him in the net , took a picture and then i killed it and threw it out for the coons cuz its not healthy to eat any fish out of there( some of them have diseases and stuff) Even though i have heard that gar tastes good. Then i also caught about a 22" channel cat on some mulberry carp dough. didnt catch all that many fish, but it was fun and i saw some deer and about 6 different herons. Oh, and in a little creek in the back of the slew( connects it to white river) I found THOUSANDS of minnows, and i was using my net to scoop them up LOL I got about 500 minnows in my "bait tank" in the garage. FREE BAIT.. thats what im talkin about hahaha

Very cool catch! I was just reading an old creel survey from Monroe and it sounds like they were pretty thick at one time. Guess they even tried stocking northern pike in '79 to thin out the perch and yellow bass. Would you mind saying how they were caught? Yellow perch show up on Shakamak's Kickapoo Lake survey every time, but I've never heard of anyone catching one. They were caught with a simple bluegill rig, a small hook, split-shot, and a bobber. Redworms for bait. Bobber was set about 2 1/2 ft deep and where i was fishing was maybe about 3-5 ft deep. Im goin fishin to yellowwood lake near monroe this weekend if i can talk my dad into it. I caught a real nice yellow perch in there when i was real little.. i havent been there in a LONG time. Id like to fill a cooler up with big gills and maybe see if i can catch one of them perch or a big crappie on some minners. It a pretty nice lake. Good sized bass too.

That's a good deal for that bow.Heck, my arrow rest was more than $100! lol I used to have a youth bow and I practiced all the time and i could shoot just as good as i can with my mathews that i have put about $1200 in. The mathews has alot of things my other bow didnt have, but a bow like that one can be very accurate and very effective on deer in the right hands. Whisker biscuits are GREAT rests too!

Did anybody know that there were yellow perch in lake monroe? I didnt know there were, but this weekend me and my dad took our kayaks on the lake and did some fishing in a little finger of the lake, and we were catching bass, decent bluegill, some small crappie, small yellow bass, and two small yellow perch. i had no idea there were perch in the lake, but maybe i just dont fish in the right places .. Has anyone else caught any?? I caught a nice one in a smaller lake near monroe, but it was a long time ago. Attachments:
