On Monday, the day before i went back to school, i took my kayak and a couple fly rods downstream from the williams dam and figured id fish for 2 or 3 hours and caught a few bass. First i hooked into my first drum on a fly and it wasnt that big but put up a nice fight. Then i casted next to a tree that was fallen in the water, and caught my first channel cat on a flyrod! THen i made my way down to the covered bridge and fished around there from a small island ,and i made a couple casts and hooked into a small sauger...my first one on a flyrod! By this point i have no idea what i might catch next..LOL I fished around the island for maybe an hour and caught maybe two or three 8-12" smallies and a few 10" largemouth. I moved down to the new 450 bridge and fished around the beams or whatever you call them. I casted about 20 feet ahead of the beams in the water and let it drift and sink to the bridge and then bounced it on the bottom and almost everytime a fish would grab it. I ended up catching about 10 largemouth there and another drum. Two of the bass were 1 1/2- 2 lbs and about 14". Moved on down the river to a shallower section and found a spot in the middle of the river where a log laying on the bottom was making a riffle behind it and i figured a bass might be hanging behind it ,threw my fly in there let itdrift thru the riffle and bam! Another nice little cat hit it and i fought it for about 5 minutes. It was fun but i was kind of disappointed because i thought i had a monster bass. Then i went around the bend and it jgot alot deeper and had a rocky shoreline where i caught a few smallies about 6-10". I also caught another bigger perch near the shore there.. I went a few hundred yards and found an area where the water was only about knee deep and there were some mini rapids. I got out and fished from shore around there and caught ANOTHER nice catfish, about 18-20" and it took awhile to get it in.. I also caught two 12" smallies in the "rapids" and about a 5" dink largemouth. Then i fished above the rapids and caught four or five more large and smallmouth bass, the last fish i caught was a largemouth and it was probably 2 lbs and 15". It was a really fun fishing trip. I lost track of time and when i looked at my phone it was 8 PM and i hauled butt back to the ramp! I also got rained on to make it even better, what are the odds, right? I was using a 5wt fly rod floating line, 6lb leader with a size 6 black, beadhead woolly bugger that i tied myself. And i caught all fish on the same fly. I will try to put some pics up of some of the fish and the fly i was using. Attachments:

Dang, that is some of the darkest soil i have ever seen...your plots should grow good if we get a little rain. I think im going to save my seed for next spring, but i have got my site bushhogged in case some rain moves in.. Even if you dont have a food plot growing the deer will still come to your ffood plot just because they are curious and like to eat the new grass growing.. ive got trail cam pics of does and small bucks in my food plot site just 2 days after i mowed it.

COol pictures.. I took the tractor and cut the grass in a small area on the edge of the woods on my gma's farm and put my trail cam over it. checked it today and had several pics of a bigg old doe with a small spotted fawn with her. I also got pics of 2 small bucks in a bachelor group.. i saw them while i was huntin last year during the rut, apparently they have made my grandmas farm their new home. Which makes me happy because my goal is to attract more deer, especially bucks,to the property. Today i sat a plastic tub full of water in front of my trail camera, it will be interesting to see if they will drink out of it or if they will be too nervous.

Nice fish man. The biggest one i caught was 21" and it weighed 5 lbs on a cheap mechanical scale..i think it probly would have weighed 6 lbs on a better electronic scale.

They are making archery season one continuous season instead of early and late season. I always hated waiting for late archery season to come in... glad they changed that. Of course now they also have an antlerless firearms season in december thru Jan 6th so there will be alot of gun hunters out there with the bowhunters.Which sucks, cuz I kinda like huntin when it doesnt sound like a war zone around you, LOL. And i dont like wearing blaze orange when im bowhunting, cuz i like em real close I dont know if the deer can see it or not, but for some reason ,when im wearing it ,i just get the feeling that i stick out like a sore thumb.

yeah, i didnt tell him i was snagging though. It is illegal to snag but it is legal to foul hook a carp and kill it. So really all i would have to say is that i hooked them while i was reeling in. One time a CO came and talked to me while i was fishin and asked me if was catchin any and i told him i snagged a couple carp and he didnt act like he cared. But there are a few CO's out there that will try to get you for anything.. And i have only been snagging them becasue i dont think you can catch them, but im not sure. Im pretty sure they eat plankton or something like that.

Well the river is wayyy down and the fish arent biting very good so i have been snagging silver carp. Yesterday i probably hooked 20 of them and landed 15. They weighed between 5 and 20 lbs. I was using a medium action spinning rod with 12 lb line rigged with a size 2 treble hook with a bell sinker under it like a dropshot rig. It is tons of fun to catch them. Honestly it is probably ILLEGAL but i am just trying to get rid of some invasive trash fish. I have also snagged some buffalo, a drum, a small bluecat, and a small grass carp and i threw them all back in. I was fishin next to 2 women and they saw me throwing the silver carp on the bank and one of them came over and was asking me if i was gonna do anything with them.. I told her "no but you can have them if you want" LOL I could tell she was mad that i was killing them, and she kept harassing me and then i told her it is illegal to throw them back in the water and told her there was a sign by the boat ramp that said so.. Then they both left and i think they read the sign too LOL And a guy for the newspaper took a picture of me too LOL
