I guess I always forget that Indiana is rather small as far as state size goes. When I think of Florida it is always beaches and swamps.

So I found this guy on youtube that just slays the bass on Lake George. In one video him and his woman catch 3 7# and an 8# bass plus a bunch of smaller ones using shiners. In this clip he's fishing the jetties that are just a few miles from my place. At around the 10 minute mark he catches a big redfish! I had never even heard of anyone catching one in that area before. Usually the saltwater species and shrimp are all caught north of Lake George, these jetties are at the very south end.

Gail and me will be down there again over Halloween. Not sure what exactly we'll be targeting yet but I have heard that the crappie are already biting. I'd like to try for some sheepshead over in the salt too.

My phone has the worst spell check EVER! Lol. Seriously, if I don't proofread everything I type then there is a 100% chance that it has changed a word on me.

Another trip is in the books. Did some fishing but not nearly as much as I was hoping. Seems there is always something that comes up. We ended up flying down with 2 pups that Gail had sold down there. That all went smooth other than a 1 hour delay on taking off from Evansville. The pups did real good and the people were waiting at the airport to pick them up. We didn't get to the place until late so the next morning I was just checking everything out and the Explorer had a dead battery that wouldn't take a charge. The old Dodge started right up and I took some pics to post it on craigslist and facebook. Gail and me then headed over to the neighbors that our canal easement is on and had it out with him. It was a pretty heated "conversation." He was totally redoing the easement area and had the posts that were in the water to tie our boat to pulled out. After a lot of arguing back and forth he finally seemed to realize that we were not going to back down and he has no choice but to let us use our legal easement. His wife joined the conversation and she seems a lot nicer and has a lot more sense than him, so in the end he had 2 new posts put in the water next to the new seawall with eyebolts to moor our boat. They also agreed to give us a key to the gait he had put up. So after that we headed over to Daytona for a battery and some groceries and I brought the rods to do a little pier saltwater fishing. After going to Sam's Club we headed over to Granada Pier and bought a couple dozen shrimp to drown. I wanted to go out towards the middle of the river on the pier but Gail's lupus was really kicking her ass so we just fished towards shore. She caught a little mangrove snapper and I caught a couple catfish. I worked on cleaning my truck up the next morning and then we took the boat out on the St. Johns that afternoon. The winds were blowing pretty good and the water was full of floating dollar pads so we tried just dipping minnows in the pads. I lost a good one but it was just to hard to do in the wind. Found us a somewhat sheltered spot and Gail hooked into a big nasty bowfin. LOL She ended catching a few gills and a crappie and I ended up with 1 dink gill. In the mean time I'm trying to sell the truck online and getting constant messages, calls, and texts. Probably had 30 people contact me, 10 say they were coming to look at it, and not a single one of them actually showed up. I ended up putting it up on the highway on Friday with a for sale sign and sold it in 30 minutes. Actually had 2 people there wanting to buy it. So long story short; my boat still hasn't been in the salt. Didn't take my yak out once. Busted my ass pretty good at the boat ramp. The a.c. unit isn't working right. The stingrays are back in the river after not catching any for years. Oh, and because the little trailer is getting full we ordered a 8X12 storage shed for our fishing and beach stuff. I marked the spot pretty good where it's going so I hope they get it right. It's being delivered today or tomorrow.

One of the toughest things about owning a vacation home is maintenance. My buddy sold his Florida home a couple of years ago because he got tired of going there to fix things instead of going there for a vacation. My buddy is like me, he doesn't like to pay anybody to fix things that he can fix himself. Hopefully the next few trips for you will be lots of fishing and relaxing.

I know Matt. I was worried about the maintenance becoming an issue. It's not to bad yet and hopefully it won't be. Our little shed was delivered today and a neighbor snapped a pic for us. It'll be nice to move the fishing and beach stuff out of the trailer.
