Hit the water in my new yak yesterday to test the canoe seat I installed and throw around a rooster tail in hopes for a few crappie. Unfortunately the crappie weren't interested, but I ended the evening with 5 bass, 2 nice gills, a slab redear, and 2 rainbow trout! These are the first trout that I have ever caught and I had a great time fighting those little guys. One went 11.5" and another went 12.5". I lost three other trout on the way in, including one that must have been 14". Not bad for only an hour and a half of fishing. Oh yeah, the new seat is super comfy too. Could sit in it all day without butt/back pain.

No, but I was considering it. Looks like a real nice rig too. I found some folks on youtube with some positive reviews. Only thing that drew me towards the Heritage was the adjustable foot pegs and the fact that I can purchase it at Academy in Terre Haute to avoid shipping costs.

Good to see ya again Pat. I had one of "those" days where I couldn't seem to hook a single fish that bit my bait LOL. Still had fun and it felt good to get out. Can't wait for things to heat up more! natahka72 if you're looking for a 10ft, maybe consider the Heritage Angler 10, that seems to be the best reasonably priced option available in a 10ft sit-on-top. I think I'll be getting one myself in the next couple weeks. Just make sure you get a better seat... that seems to be the only issue with it.

I checked Midland lake a few days ago... 4" near shore but quickly dropped to 2-2.5" 20ft out. Pretty disappointed about not getting on ice so far. Maybe February will bring more ice.

that's awesome. I've seen probably a dozen bald eagles in the past few years. Most recently soaring over Shakamak Lake. Before that, I had one fly right over my head 20ft high at my old house in a Terre Haute naighborhood. Caught me totally off guard.

Well that sucks, they must have changed it since I last looked. Didn't see any 40s in there last time. Looks like we may have to head north like Hilly said. I'd be down for that.

Judging by the long range forecast, I'm hoping we'll have safe ice by the end of January. I just ordered an ice chipper/scooper and some strap-on metal cleats for my boots with a gift card my mom gave me Thanks mama!!!!!

What are they a hybrid of? Tiger muskie is a hybrid of northern pike and a true muskie. Factoids say they are sterile but who knows, maybe they can occasionally reproduce successfully.

Pretty cool, I have yet to see a mink at Shakamak. Had a good time though. Your wife really likes cats.

Got a string loop tied on. The release holds just fine with it, so I'm gonna hold onto it for now. Just gotta paper tune it and sight it in. And practice, practice, practice. I got out one evening to get comfortable shooting it. I think I can say with confidence that I'm gonna enjoy hunting with a bow.

Nice! I've been having a tough time finding fish too. Don't have much experience fishing in the fall. Looks like a few real nice redear in that basket.
