Matt that is the coolest shed I've ever seen! Looks great. I'd never leave! That thing would spell divorce for me.

Nice. Maybe you guys could secure a spot at the covered bridge festival. I bet you'd make a little cash there. You're makin me hungry!

Doing good here! I still visit the board almost daily, but the lack of fishing due to foul weather and projects has kept me from posting much. Spent a lot of the spring remodeling the bathroom and coordinating a roof/gutter replacement. This summer has been devoted to building a paver patio and sitting wall, which is now finished, and today I began digging post holes for the 16x16' deck that will go next to it. Still got the kayak sitting in the truck bed though, awaiting for some free time during the fall bite.

My cam is going up this weekend. Maybe this season I'll have time to get my first whitetail.

I did a search and the first time I mentioned shad at Shakamak on here was in 2012, so I'm thinking it was probably 2010 when my cousin who works at the park told me about the shad. They were thinking they possibly got there during the flood in '08. I'd still like to see another predator put in there....wiper,walleye, saugeye. THIS. Yes please

Just picked a handful and fried em up. The big ones are great eaten alone, the smaller ones are good on a salad. I plan on eating those again!

Interesting. Maybe they were holding off to monitor the growth of the shad population before making any changes?

This is depressing. I really, REALLY hope the shad don't affect the panfish size in the coming years. And I hope the bass will help keep them in line...

They're everywhere in my yard right now. Picked a few last night, they have a very interesting smell. Gonna fry some up this weekend!

Thanks again for the invite, I needed a reason to get out on the water. I've hardly had any time to even visit the BBB or IA boards, let alone actually go fishing. Those redear don't even look real when they surpass 10"! I'm addicted to them lately.

It's good to see people being successful at this. I love the idea of a self-reliant lifestyle since my job is so unstable... feast or famine. My wife wants to try it too, but I'm with Patrick right now... Just not in the position to do it... yet. We're gonna start with some chickens, maybe next year. In the meantime, we started a large garden this year and hope to expand it next year. I just can't wait for the asparagus to be ready.... mmmmmm

A couple friends and I took my jonboat on her maiden voyage down to Moss Lake in Hillenbrand the other day. No crappie for us because the guys wanted to fish for bass, but there were several boats on the lake and all of them were putting the smack down on the crappie on their beds. One guy told me he and his wife limited out two days in a row.

Wow, nice find. I think they'll be on again this weekend. Lots of rain recently and a big warmup coming. I'm definitely planning on getting out to look around.

Thanks. Can't wait to get back on the water and get a few more. I tried them using a googled recipe using dill and thyme and it was pretty good. I think next time I'll try them blackened.
