Wife woke me up from a nap and wanted to go fishing this evening. I didn't really feel like it but I went along just to be nice. Boy, was I glad she dragged me out there! The fish were hungry. Caught a nice redear on the first cast, a few bass afterwards including a 2lber on a nightcrawler, she caught a pretty little pumpkinseed below the spillway, and I got another nice gill. Went to another spot and caught a few more, and rounded out the night with a new PB gill, I never got to directly measure it because I didn't bring a tape measure, but I marked a point on my wife's flip flop and measured that when I got home. 10" on the nose. The entire trip was only about an hour, but man... what a great evening to be out.

What a moron. I could say the same thing about his precious bass fishing since bass are so easily predictable. He can take his 'holier than thou' attitude back to BPS to spend this year's salary on a sparkly boat and 6 baitcaster reels that he doesn't know how to use. I'll keep my panfish. More for me!

I've never fished there so I stopped by there today on my way back from work. Man, what a beautiful place! Makes you feel so far from home (I live 20 minutes away). Anyway... It appears that Island is still accessible from the path to Teal lake, even though there is no actual boat ramp. I could easily drag my yak down there. I noticed the water was a light blue color... has it always been that way?
I also stopped by Shop Lake. Saw a couple folks fishing from their kayaks. Is this a new addition to Minnehaha? My older map doesn't show Shop as public property, but my new one does. Has anyone been there? What's the fishing like?

I didn't take any pics unfortunately. I ended up going to Crystal lake afterwards and caught a bunch more medium sized gills. I was so tired and sunburnt by the end of the day that I didn't even think to get some pics. My belly was full of fried fish, fried pickles and Shock Top before I even thought about it. Let me know if you plan on coming back.

There are still plenty of fish spawning. I do think the wild weather we've had lately has put the brakes on the action, but they'll be back up soon. Nice mess Patrick!

Wish I had photos because no one is gonna believe me, but my father-in-law and I went out Sunday morning to catch em on their beds, and we caught at least a dozen redear at 10"+.
It was magical.
Go get em boys!

I'm betting the lake trout thing is a typo. Funny thing is, I just bought my own copy of that book today before I saw this thread just now. I would love nothing more than to hear about DNR stocking a couple pits with walleye... if someone wants to put a petition together, I'd sign it!!!

Had a good time out there! Kayak fishing is always better with a friend. Let's do it again soon.

Looks like a blast! Only been saltwater fishing once but I loved it as much as freshwater. I love the potential variety of fish down there. I'm hoping I can tangle with a blacktip shark next time.
