I just registered a fish in the fish of the year that was actually caught on the replacement bait for the one that I lost on the stickup. It was the same class of fish as my two biggest but was hooked badly and we did not want to take the time to measure her. Just snapped a couple of photos and released her. I think I need to order a few more of those baits. LOL

My first fish of the year entry. Indiana musky caught Sunday June 3. Was hooked bad so had to get back in the water quick but she was a solid mid to high forties and FAT. She ate a stick bait in about 12 feet of water and put up an awesome fight. Entry #1Attachments:

That is one of the two bad things about getting the record, you have to harvest the fish. The other is the fact that unless you are at one of the big three up north and already have a ton of pressure you may not want to let people even know that it was caught. I love fishing in QUITE southern waters and don't think if I did get lucky I would let anyone know. I do know that there are fish in some of our southern waters that are much bigger than anything that has been posted on this or any other website.

.308? Does not take near that much gun to kill one plus with the 308 you have the recoil and the price for shells. Does sound like a ton of fun with the night vision though.

It was actually a little more crowded then in the past on sunday. Numbers of people up and the number of deer measured was way down.

I would strongly recomend going up on either friday night or sunday afternoon. I measure deer for the books and work up there all weekend and on saturday I don't even get out of the measuring area because it is stupid busy. Every year by about noon on sunday I am able to walk about anywhere in the place and don't have to worry about crowds. As far as loosing lures at bass lake I would highly recomend getting one of the lure retrivers on the pole. We have actually gained more lures(other peoples) than we have lost.

We got to see our first at Green-Sullivan last Friday. It was on the nesting stand on the point in the south-west corner of bass lake. Tried to get some picks with the phone but did not work. Pretty cool!!!

We have a lure retrieval that gets them back almost all of the time. I lost that one because I was hung up and was messing with a birds nest. Dad did not hear me say I was hung up and took off across the lake to another spot. You would be surprised how hard you have to hold on when you are using 80 pound power pro and a 130 pound leader. Think the birds nest was actually due to still being a little fired up from the fish. It does not look like it in the pictures but she was not as big as the one that I cought in October. We did not get a girth measurement but she was about 46.75 inches long, had a big stomach but was not near as big structually as the one in october we were just able to get a little better pics.

I just saw that. Looks like I will have to plan ahead next time I take the picks. My dad actually had one follow that looked at least as big as this one about ten minutes before I caught this one. I caught this fish on a brand new bait first time out and about five cast later I donated it to a bass lake stick up, imagine that. Good new is I already have two new ones in the mail.

Thanks a ton greenedog. Something came up and was not able to make it Friday or Saturday but will be heading down on Tuesday or Wednesday. Or actually maybe both. That is one thing bad about fishing down there. We run two batteries and have a switch between them so we can run one battery completely dead and then switch to the second battery, fish for a couple more hours than put it on the trailer. We are actually going to add a third battery when it warms up to keep us on the water a little longer.

Thanks Greenedog after all of this rain and the way the temps have been I think we may try it on either Friday after work or on Saturday morning. Don't figure we will have any luck but even a poor day spent outside is better than a good day working. Or setting on the couch.

I live a little ways north of Terre Haute and it was 53 yesterday. At midnight the local news was giving 50 but the temps have been dropping all day. Was wondering because I spent a little money at the musky show in chicago and I am dying to try it out.

If it is not out of your way could someone swing by bass lake sometime this week and see if you could get a boat on it. With temps in the 50's yesterday and a ton of rain and wind I would like to try and get on it later this week. Only problem is I have over an hour drive to get down there. Would hate to pull the boat over an hour to find out it was a waste of time. Thanks in advance HH

I have not seen any at Greene-Sullivan, however in northern Vigo and southern Parke I have seen several over the years, most of the time eating on a road kill deer along side of the road. Last winter there was an adult and an young one eating of a roadkill down the road from my parent house. They both spent the better part of a week there. Awesome bird for sure!!!!!!

I still can't figure out why they have not added vigo county as an urban deer zone.
