It was my understanding that the musky stocked in the Forest were true musky, not a hybrid. The Division of Forestry posted this on their FB page... ...it was caught out of Frost Lake and said to be a fifty-incher. I have not been able to find this pic anywhere else, any idea when this fish was caught?

Mr. Kittaka the biologist emailed me today, they ran the nets for two days and west and did not catch a single fish. They left them out over the weekend hoping the water may warm up a little and maybe they will do some good.

From what I have heard very few males every make it over 40 inches. I know the biggest fish they caught the first night was 39 and all the fish they caught the second night were males so I am assuming about the same on size. West is a funny lake, have heard some guys who like it as much or more then bass, we have fished it several times and have seen one fish.

With the nets they catch several fish every night. The biologist emailed me again last night and it looks like they set them a little sooner then ideal. With water temps at 39 all they are catching are males because it is still a little to cold for the big girls to come out and play.

The DNR has had the nets up at bass this week. Just talked to the biologist earlier today, they will be pulling them from bass for the last time this am and taking them over to west where they will remain the rest of the week. If you are not doing anything they check them in the mornings, we are going to try to get down there friday to check it out.

Do a search on the internet. A boone and crockett measurer that I know who is a very honest and competent measurer has submitted a deer the Boone and Crockett that is two inches bigger then the Iowa non typical world record. Shot in gun season in north western Indiana.

I will be up there measuring deer on Saturday. You said that it did not make sense that they sent a letter asking if you were interested in taking your mount up and then said they did not want you to. What they do is send a letter out to most of the deer that have been put in the books the last couple of year. Once everyone who is willing to take their deer up there responds they take the highest scoring deer up to the number that they have room for, that way they always have a full wall.

If you look at the website they also have a map of all the musky lakes in the area.
