Thanks guys!
We just use canned sweetcorn and put a couple kernels on a #6 baitkeeper style hook. Fish it on the bottom with a simple slip-sinker rig, with about a 12" leader.
I've got a sling-shot to shoot out corn to bait-up the area I'm fishing in too.

We've caught a few that way.
I prefer to do it when there's at least a little wind and waves, which will really make that senko come alive in the water.

Went to Cagles Mill dam one day right after work, and fished there from about 6PM on through until it got dark. Must've caught over a limit's worth of nice-sized Crappies, all on RoadRunner jigs cast out into water around 10' deep, counted-down to within a couple feet of the bottom, then reeled-in slow and steady. Didn't catch one that couldn't have been kept...mostly around 9" or 10" with a couple pushing a foot or so in length. But all were released this time. Had to be about my most productive Crappie outing in a long time! The BIG surprise came when I foul-hooked a large Carp, right in the tip of the tail...I'm guessing it had to go15lbs. any way...on my Crappie rod with 4 pound test line! Had to have taken me at least half an hour to finally wear it out enough to bring it in. Despite the foul-hook, I'm still kinda proud I caught it! My second biggest Carp ever ( out of maybe hundreds? ) when I wasn't even trying to catch one! Fishing can really surprise you sometimes, you know! The venue: A nice Crappie of many similar fish: The bait of choice today: This guy and I were both wore-out...but I was a lot happier!
