Man! I didn't realize how much I've missed my little place in the jungle! I swear I feel more at home here than I do at home. Getting the boat cleaned up for a shrimp run tomorrow. Had a little mess to clean up, a framed picture had fallen off the wall and broke glass in the kitchen and hallway. Looks like there might be some water damage in the wall where the pic had been hanging so I need to get on the roof and check that out. Hopefully no biggie. Just glad to be here!

Just curious...do you use traps to catch them? No, for the summer run it's mainly cast nets. You use your graph to find them then cast over them. Some people do it from docks and bridges too. That's mainly done at night and you get them to come to you with some kind of bait, like cat food. You can use traps but they are usually used for the winter run when people anchor at night and use underwater lights to dip net the shrimp. The traps have to be manned so folks will drop a trap or two along the boat while they're dip netting.

My tentative plans right now are to try the Salt Springs Run area of Lake George first and if no luck there I'll head north and try the Welaka and Dunn's Creek areas. Palatka isn't out of the question though if I need to go that far.

Thatโs awesome. Where did you get that made? Her name is Michelle Masters from Terre Haute. My co-worker who runs the Wicked Whitetail pulling tractor found her and had some made to sell. Only $8 each and she can put any 1 color image on them. She has one of those Cricut machines I think. www.facebook.com/groups/568630260517249/?ref=share

Still haven't decided if it will be the St Johns or Halifax. Daytona is producing some big shrimp but slow catches and the St Johns is producing some big catches but small to medium shrimp and they're sill farther north than I'd like to travel in the boat. I'll just have to keep checking the reports as it gets closer.
