Another fatty. Gail measured this one at 9.5 inches. Most were females and looked like they had eggs but they were just fat. 😁 Almost all were caught from the dock and I think the males are in the shallows guarding the nests.

Fished for dinner this evening. Kept 10 gills and a couple small bass. The bluegill were nice and thick! Still nothing out of the woods pond. Can't figure that out.

Well, Gail and me had a trip booked to fly down on the 11th but too many things are going on right now. One of them being her standard poodle she lets run loose came home with a broken front leg the other day. No idea what happened but she's in a splint and staying in the cabin with us. The splint will have to be changed periodically by the vet and she also needs carried in and out of the cabin to do her business. She only weighs 51 ponds but still, it's hard to ask someone to deal with that while we go on vacation. Plus deal with 2 batches of chicks and all the other critters we have. I think I'm going to keep my time off and make our final move into the modular. I'd feel better going on vacay after all that is done anyhow. I'm sure we would have been moved by now but Gail has had some health issues and I injured my shoulder at work on January 30th. Just now getting to where I can raise my arm again. That has put quite the damper on getting things done around the homestead.
Oh, p.s. If you get hurt at work and it's not life threatening, just use your own insurance. Worker's comp is a JOKE! Hence me just now being able to move my arm 3 months later.

I can definitely relate to being too busy! It's been a weird season. I've heard numerous people say their usual spots didn't produce much but then folks have found tons at the same time. 🤷♂️

Was really hoping that "Solo" from our first hatching would be a hen but it sure isn't looking like it. This thing is huge! 😂 It sure looks like a Barred Rock but the guy I got the eggs from says he doesn't have any of those? Weird.

Hatched another batch of eggs and have 3 chicks so far. I think I forgot to mention this before but I've been using the spare geeni camera as a "chick cam" so I can check in on them live. 😂

Yeah I noticed that too. Things were hot and heavy for a while. Guess that's how they want it in Indiana? I'm not hunting anyhow. Got a bad right shoulder and still dealing with this stupid house. 😔

Picked the pole barn shrooms today. One of them had already been stepped on by the dogs. 🙄

Picked up a boil bag from Terre Haute Aldi the other day and had it for supper tonight. Still a good deal at $9.99!
