Anyone giving them a shot this year? I'm seriously thinking about it. I must be nuts though because I already have a thousand and one things going on. LOL Found a turkey gun I want to buy but no one has it in stock; Stevens 301 Turkey single shot in 20 gauge. I've seen a couple online in .410 but that's a no go here in Indiana.

I work Monday through Thursday opening week but I should be off Friday - Sunday. I almost bought a Mossberg Turkey/Waterfowl combo until a buddy at work was telling me how much of a shoulder breaker they are. My shoulders are already bad, I don't need to do any more damage!

I haven’t tried different size shot shells to see if it makes a big difference, I’ve just been sucking it up to stick with what’s working .

I'll be going again with the ol' single shot 20 ga. You can take it when I tag out opening evening.

I’ll be at my grandma’s opening day with the bow. If I can’t get one there I’ll probably try some public ground closer to home with the shotty. I’m on a six year drought that I’d really like to break, so I may have to go the run n gun route instead of just sitting in a blind.

That combo will work for sure!! Just keep the shot within the 0 to 25ish yard range.

Well I did end up picking up another shotgun to try out. It's a Midland Arms Backpack 20 gauge single shot. Found it on Hoosier Topics last night then met the guy on the way to work tonight. It was LNIB, said he had only shot it 5 times, and came with a modified choke and a Carlson's turkey choke. These guns are based off an old Beretta design and we actually had one of the originals growing up in .410 that we hunted with as kids. I'm gonna try it out with some Winchester Supremes 3" #5 shot this weekend and see how she does.
