Good job, Chase. I think any man that wants to be a good dad probably struggles at some point juggling dad-life and doing what keeps us sane like hunting and fishing.

I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but even after the kids are grown up and are gone stuff still comes up that keeps you from doing those things that keep us sane. The only advantage is, after you are retired, you get to do some things during the week that you had to only do on the weekends before. The problem with that is you have to do a lot of those things by yourself, which isn't all bad, but it takes a little away from the total experience. However, it makes the lying part much, much easier.

Pre-kids, I had no problem making time for myself and not feeling guilty about it. I don't plan to wait until retirement to start doing that again. Life is too short!

Punched my Fall tag this evening! Pa has been watching a flock on our pond dam every day. I finally got a chance to sit down by it and they showed up on cue. I had a hen decoy out but if anything it hurt me because they tried to avoid it. They still came within around 30 yards. I picked out a hen and let the 20 ga single shot do the rest! Here is the video. Definitely not my best video work with just using two go pros. And the one on my head apparently had a smudged lens. Oops. My wife Christina helped me pluck the bird and we plan on roasting it in the oven this week with a recipe in the Meateater cook book. I will check back with how it turns out.
