I would have to say who ever can harvest the most species in one year would be the winner. For example if one person can harvest a rabbit, squirrel, turkey, coyote, duck, goose, whitetail and so on they did better than someone that harvested a elk and a wild boar. Make it the sportsmen or sportswomen of the year contest.
Just my .02 wroth.

Sounds like one you will never forget. I do know one thing, you could never pay me to stick my hand in no hole not knowing what's in there.

I would have to agree with everyone else,I used one of those seats in a ladder stand an was not very comfortable at all. But on the other hand,I'am one of those hunters that only sit for five minutes at a time. It worked good for that if your one of those kind of hunters. I also only hunt the first and last four hours of daylight maybe you like to stay out longer and I don't recommend this seat for long periods of seating.

Nice catch's,never heard of using eggs from other fish or ever thought of that. I will have to give it a try next year when the gills are on their beds. Thanks for the tip.

The fishing has been fair with small bag limits but descent size fish. On 7/2 me and the wife went out of St.Joe after she got off of work. Did a little bit of perch fishing in 14 fow and caught some nice jumbo's. She's not a big fan of trolling around for salmon and trout, but I think I got her hook. After we ran out of perch minnows I asked if we could do a little bit of trolling around. So we motored out to 50 fow and set lines and had a nice KING in the boat probably five minutes after the last line was in the water. We ended up going 5 for 7 that evening in about two hours, just before the sun went down. All of the kings where 10-12 pounds with one steel head around 7pds. After she got to find out what mister king is all about, she asked me to take her back on 7/4, an leave the perch rods at home. We got back to the marks I made on the gps around 5:30 p.m it was a little bit slower with only boxing 3 fish. Two kings and one steel head and several other quick releases. The chrome/green j-plug was our hottest lure on 8 colors of lead. Moonshine spoons Mongolian beef took a couple and flounder pounder took one or two fish. All the fish came in 50 to 65 fow and anywhere from 30 to 45 foot down. We had a lot of fun and got to watch the fire crack show while we were fishing,it was pretty cool. Sorry that there are no pic's I'm still learning how to put them on the computer alone the web site.
I did here that the steel head action finally did pick up at Michigan city this weekend and a few kings are being caught.

Thanks for the report Troy. I can't wait for the steel to show up, the last couple of years they haven't really staged in front of the prier heads. They just shot right up the creeks an rivers. Maybe this will be the year.

I like spinner baits the best, all black in 3/8 oz with a number 2 Indiana blade or Colorado at night time. 3/8oz because if you want it to go deeper just reel it in slower if you want it shallower reel it in faster. I also like to tip this with a white tailer and a trailer hook, slow roll it just above the weeds and hold on. You never know when the big bite is coming. But with all this said, the lure that is going to catch the most fish is the one you have the most confidence in,because you are going to use it the most.
just my .02 cents worth

Troy that came off wrong, I want him to reel them in and he wants me to reel them in. So we both just sit there while the drag is going zzzzzzzzzz and neither one of us will get up to grab the rod. I guess after you reeled so many you don't really care to reel them all in. If you come on my boat you better be ready to reel them all in. I usually reel in fish only when there's a double and that's only sometimes. As far as what broke the line I don't know, but I think we were in to shallow of water when we started and the 10 colors of lead core was rubbing the bottom of the lake. When we got the line in the line was ruff at the end weaken.

Got to the boat ramp at 5:15 a.m and was not able to go out until 7am due to lighting storms. After the storms cleared we set up at 50fow and started catching fish, first fish was a 8# king on modify green dophlin mag. on downrigger(dr). Second fish came off of double orange crush mag. off of dr and was a nice lake trout. Last two fish came off of green dipsy with orange spoon and where coho's. We had a good rip on a full core and modify blue dophlin fish just keep pulling drag until the line broke. Then right after that one got away a half core took off screaming and it got away but the line did not break on that one. Had a couple of other fish on,but me and my buddy was arguing about who was going to reel it in and the fish would get off. We knew there was high winds and more storms coming so we only fished until 1p.m.
After we got home 80 plus mph winds came threw the area and it was nasty. Lake Michigan was no place to be.
