I have never shot any of the 91/30. I know the 91/30's had some variations from the M38's and M44's. Like the barrel length. The 91/30 barrel is about 8 and 1/2 inches longer, and the Rear sight on the 91/30 went all the way up to 2,500 M as opposed to 1,500 M with the M38 and M44. Both of those things would contribute to better accuracy, but as far as recoil goes, I doubt it. Guess i'll have to get ahold of one and try it out

A 308, is not too bad. Then again, it also depends on the gun design. I had a Mosin-Nagant that was chambered in 308, and that thing kicked like a PI$$ED OFF MULE! I mean it nearly broke my dang shoulder a few times. On the filp side, the newer rifles are designed to pretty much reduce as much recoil as possible. Also if the gun DOSE turn out to be a little "TOUGH" for you, you can look into a custom stock, and also a "Managed recoil" style round(just means not as much powder basically). If you can handle a 12 g. you should not have a problem though.

Glad to hear you are enjoying yourself. Indiana bag limit for Squirrel is 5 per day, which aint too hard to do since were pretty much OVER-RUN with em! Its great to hear you even got your German guest to go with you, and that they got one! did they get to eat it, If so, Did they LIKE it? Check out the recipe section, there are a few GOOD squirrel recipies you may like.
