I went out walking around the property today, and made my way onto the pond. Was a warm day today, and all the snow was meltin. Lastnight we got a good HARD FREEZE! I mostly just walked around the pond picking up any trash I found, and did some Ice testing. Most of it is pretty solid with about 3 inches. The shallow side I walked all the way across.(about 30 yds) I did'nt venture out to the deep end of the pool, It is Ice capped, but I am still going to give it a WHILE before I go out there. I may do some shallow side fishing soon If my new blades for my auger ever get here.

Dang Tony, you opened a big ol' can a worms here. Didn't know there was that many intalek'yals on here. I'm having a hard time deciding where to begin......I guess I'll start with my all time favorite; James Alexander Thom of Bloomington, Indiana. My favorite book of his is "Panther in the Sky", based on the life of Tecumseh. Another great one is "Longknife", based on the life of George Rogers Clark. It still chills my bones thinking of Clark leading his men across the flooded Wabash in February 1779 to attack the British at Vincennes. Another great one is "Sea to Shining Sea" based on the Lewis and Clark Expedition. These are not boring history books, but page turning action/adventures. Another all time favorite is Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry. I've read the whole series, but the original was by far the best. It's hard to believe they were able to make a tv mini-series out of that book. I also love Jimmy Buffett's books. He's a great writer, just wish he'd put out more stuff. I guess that music thing takes up too much time. I've read hundreds of westerns; Louis L'Amour, Zane Grey, etc. I once won a ebay auction of 75 westerns for 20 bucks. The best I've read lately is the John Jakes North and South series and What This River Keeps by Greg Schwipps. Here's a review I did on that one; bellbucksnbeards.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=catfish&action=display&thread=1302anthony- remind me to let you borrow that one at the Wing Off. Ummm......Hemingway's pretty good, I like The Sun Also Rises, Walden by Thoreau, East of Eden by Steinbeck..... I'm sure I'll think of more and have to post again.... Great thread anthony, I plan on checking out some of these books I'm seeing mentioned. WOW! OK fellas. at the speed I read, I think you guys have probably got me set up for ATLEAST the next 10 years!! Troy, Longknife sounds like it may be pretty interesting, gonna have to check that one out. THANKS EVERYONE!!

Brian- Thanks for the info. I think I am going to check into the series. Pitbull- If you want to get rid of that book, let me know. I would be interested in it. Strippitman- If you can't get your self to sit and read the books, I know they also mad the Left Behind series into movies. They actually followed the books VERY closely.

I love the book "My Side of the Mountain" its about a kid who moves from the city in new york to live on a mountain, he hollows out the base of a tree and lives in it, and trains a hawk to catch rabbits and stuff, its a really good book. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll do a quick google search on it, and possibly put it on my list! Sounds like a fun book!

I will try to find the name of the book (I still have it some where). Stephen King wrote a book about a mysterious car that just shows up. It is loosley related to the Dark Tower series. Some of the things in the Dark tower are found inside of the car and thats all I will say for now. Richard Bachman. He also did a cameo on Sons of Anarchy this season under that pen name. (was the guy on the red harley called to clean up Gemma's fathers maids body.) Now, as far as the book goes, It would'nt be Christine, that was connected to "IT". So, are you refering to "From a Buick 8"? If so, I have been wanting to read this book, but dont wanna get too much on my plate, and have'nt been able to order it yet.

I did a little checkin around the site, and could'nt seem to find any threads on favorite books. I ain't too sure if-in ya'll ken reed too, ( ) but right now I'm workin on The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger. It is the first of a series of I believe 8 or 9 books. There is also talk of a movie due out in 2013. The author is Stephen King(some of you younger guys might not know who he is : . I've never been much into readin books, I usually fall asleep. So far I've managed to get through the LEFT BEHIND series, and a few others, But THIS one is my FIRST MAJOR series. I plan to get into it a little more, but for right now I just keep it in the bathroom. I find thats where I get most of my GOOD reading done. Anyone else out there who does any reading What are some good books you have read, or plan to read?
