like I said before, I used the Birchwood and Casey kit from walmart once on a air rifle, and I was NOT pleased. THATS not to say I did'nt do something right. I was alot younger at the time, and VERY easily could have skipped a step. I just dont wanna take any chances, and I know Hoppes puts out good products, so I chose them. CONGRATS on the turkey find guys!

Heres a few photos for ya Brian. These are just Preliminary photos of the begining of the process. I will post more as I go along, but it will be atleast a week untill my Hoppes Bluing Kit arrives. Here is my work area. I try to keep everything in order so I dont loose anything( atleast as much as possible). Everything laid out after a GOOD soak in a solvent/degreaser, and a GOOD scrub and Thorough wipe down. MOST of this is the action and Trigger assembly completely tore down, soaked, scrubed, and wiped. The Reciever body, Notice some heavy pitting up top. I still have a little work to do on this with the Wire wheel and Polishing wheel. Opposite side Alittle closer. Sorry bout the Glair. This wont be a HIGH $ Gun when its finished, but it is a special gift to me from my father in law, and who knows maybe one day, Me and the boys can go through and do it again.

Where are these studies that say EAB doesn't work? In theory if everybody was to continue legally hunting then it has nothing to do but work. The urban zone rule is a trial for the whole state. I guess if it comes to the rest of us then we will know it worked there. As far as not seeing a lot of urban deer you are the first person I have ever heard say that as well. I don't currently know anybody who hunts UDZ but in college several of my classmates were from Tippecanoe county where they loved hunting the urban season and thought it was a joke they called it hunting. However everybodys woods is different, just like Anthony is seeing a decline in big deer and I am seeing an increase. As far as the rule changes go I am for them. Should even be an economy booster when all the gun only guys go out and buy a crossbow cause "its like shooting a rifle" then for them to find out it is nothing like it. However I think the thing that will help get the most antlerless deer killed is the new "bundled" license. This, in my opinion, is the reason our herd is getting overpopulated. Its getting too expensive for those who don't have a lifetime and/or don't process there own. If this license is a big bargain then it will help. ^^^AGREED^^^

Got my BPS COMPLETELY tore down right now. gonna let it soak in a DEGREASER, and I plan to do a "COLD" blue on the bird barrel, trigger guard, and reciever/magazine this weekend. I just ordered a Hoppes Gun Blue Kit from amazon, since I did'nt fell like getting sick from walking in and seeing Gander Mountain's price, and another reason I chose Hoppees, is because I used a Birchwood and Casey's kit from walmart once on an air rifle, and WAS NOT PLEASED AT ALL. I MAY refinish the stock also, but I am not sure yet. Hopefully it will all be dome by season.

"¡Allows a rifle cartridge to have a maximum case length of 1.8 inches instead of 1.625 inches" [glow=red,2,300]I LIKE [/glow] "¡Changes the archery season to a single season that runs from October 1 through the first Sunday in January " [glow=red,2,300]I LIKE [/glow] "3) Establishes housing requirements for raccoons, red foxes, gray foxes, and coyotes kept live during the trapping season." [glow=red,2,300] I LIKE [/glow] "5) Removes the requirement for resident landowners or tenants to notify a conservation officer within 72 hours of taking a nuisance mammal listed in this rule, eliminating the need for thousands of Hoosiers to call conservation officers every time they capture a nuisance raccoon or squirrel. The changes also clarify that the animal that is captured cannot be kept as a pet or sold." [glow=red,2,300]I LIKE [/glow] "On lakes, rivers, and streams statewide for both sport and commercial fishing (including the Ohio River), the proposal is to allow only one channel catfish to be taken per day that is 28 inches or more in total length and allow only one flathead and one blue catfish to be taken per day that is 35 inches or more in total length. " [glow=red,2,300]As far as this one goes, I'm not really too affected by this. MOST guys I know, RELEASE any Large fish they catch. Alot of us institute Catch Photo and Release, [/glow] As far as the rule proposals, I myself like them. Even though the DNR states they do not promote "TROPHY DEER MANAGEMENT" and all this would be to "THIN THE HEARD" I think it would do good to let the woods calm down for a few years. with a shorter season, the deer are allowed more time to become accostomed to humans again, and allowed to ACTUALLY DEVELLOPE! Better genes = Better Bucks. Dont get me wrong, I have seen some shooters in Indiana, even taken a few myself, But they are becomeing very few and far in between. Seems like every time I go out anymore, all I see are Does. and not the BIG does I seen growing up, these are smaller scrawnier does. I guess what I am saying is maybe everyone should give it a chance. If 5 years down the road it turns out to be an [glow=red,2,300]EPIC FAIL[/glow], then everyone knows they'll just propose it to be changed back.

It is what appears to be a house that has been converted into a store. They seem to have a basement, so maybe they live down there, but I dont know. I DO know, when you walk in, you will probably be suprised of some of the things they have in there. If you are interested in HOMEBREWING, they do have a good little selection of books in the brewing room. More than what waldens and B.A.M. has. Here is a Link to their website. www.herbsandheirlooms.com/
