what kind of scope mount do you have on the M44? I don't remember who makes it but its' a drill and tap mount on the receiver that requires the factory bolt to be removed as well and replaced with a drop down. There is another scope mount available for them where the rear sight is removed and the mount is put into place. I think eye relief would cause problems for me with that set up.

Yeah, I know about the rear sight mount and agree with the eye relief problem. the mount you have is the same one I have as far as I can tell. Its made by a company called ATI. it came with the drop down bolt handle, but I got mine done by a gunsmith. how accurate is he rifle with the scope? I don't have mine back yet.

Yep, ATI sounds right. I had a gunsmith take care of mine as well. The only problem I have noticed is you will need to keep an eye out on the new bolt handle as the screw has a tendency to back out after sending some rounds down range and working the action. It will take many shots before this will happen or that's what it did for me. Accuracy seems to be pretty good considering I'm not running the best ammo through it and the range where I go to plink some rounds only has a 100 yard lane. As of right now the scope should be set close to the 100 yard mark.

I actually had a gunsmith modify my original bolt handle to make it a bent bolt. it was welded on. I wanted to avoid any problems like you mentioned with the screw coming loose. do you think the accuracy is enough to reliably hit coyotes at between 50-100 yards? I use cheap ammo for mine as well.

You shouldn't have a problem. I haven't yote hunted for a couple years and the last time out I only seen 1. He was moving pretty good and I took the shot...needless to say I missed. That was before the scope set up as well. The target shooting I've done since seems to be good considering the cheap ammo.
