So Gail loves using little dock poles and she said recently that she would like to have a nice one. We were at the flea market yesterday and I found a guy selling some nice new fishing stuff. I got a Penn 2500, braid line, and 3 name brand top water saltwater baits for $30. Well over $100 worth of stuff. Then I found another guy that had a couple ice fishing rods, ended up getting both for $5. One was a Genz and the other a is lot stiffer and a Quantum. She chose the Genz and I got it setup last night. It’s rigged and ready for battle!
While I was shopping Gail went in a building to cool off and met an old guy who has been a charter captain for 40+ years. They got to talking about sheepshead and he said to use peeled shrimp tails. Said the sheepshead don’t need to break the shell so they will just suck it in. Soon as you feel the bait move you need to set the hook. We’re gonna go try it this afternoon and also try to catch some crabs.

This is just a few hundred yards from where Gail and and me fish at Helen Melon Schmidt Park.
