Flying south again on the 5th and my main mission will be to get on some sheepshead. I've heard that they have moved back into the Intracoastal so it's no time like the present to mark these critters off my bucket list. Just ordered $40 worth of jigs to try out. I know you can catch them on fish finder/Carolina rigs, but from what I've read the hookup ratio is a lot better with these jigs. We shall see. Hopefully I can find some fiddler crabs for bait.

Tried for sheepshead with fiddler crabs and hooked up on my first cast but it got off halfway to the boat. Missed quite a few after that. Threw the cast net from an island we stopped at and caught enough finger mullet for the day. No luck with those either other than a few that got bit in half. Only catch came on a live shrimp, a 15.5" speckled trout. It was beautiful out though and we had dolphins playing around us for a while and seen a thousand different types of birds. Video coming soon!

Pretty sure that is the first time I have seen someone catch a bird.

Better late than never! Chase had to come down and break the ice for me. We both managed 1 each and lost or missed a lot more. Chase's was just barely under the 12" size limit.

I have heard they are quite table worthy.

I met this guy through youtube and we're now facebook friends and follow each other on Instagram. We were hoping to fish together last trip but he was sick all week. He hasn't had much luck with the sheeps this winter but he finally got on some the other day...

The sheepshead are really biting right now and we will be down there in a couple weeks so I picked up some more jigs. The Jettie Rocks fishing guy on youtube is catching multiple species on these little jigs right now including sheeps. I wanted pink but they have been sold out ever since Jettie Rock's first video using them. I bought a pair of unpainted jigs and a bottle of florescent pink to make my own.

Yes you did! Should be a good meal in your future. Was that out of your yaks?
