I think everything was caught on jigs tipped with either a beemoth or worm.

I know that feeling! My OT's just beginning...we have 5 crews here at work and one of the guys that does my job just retired and another guy can go anytime. Starting 6 straight 12hr nights tonight and then a day and a half off and then switch to days. These might be the last fish I catch for a while. :'(

Well, I couldn't stay away! Lol. Gail had a couple of the grandkids today so it was pretty much impossible to sleep, so I got up and went to the pond with them. It was just catch and release but we could have had another mess if we wanted. Ethan is 7 and was close by when I hooked a crappie so I just handed him the rod. He got that one in then added another and a nice gill before I got my rod back! I was using a chartreuse slab daddy jig tipped with a wax worm.

Love seeing the young ones outside & involved in the outdoors!! Looks like a fun day . I’m getting stuff around & ready for turkey season as I have that week off finally. How big are those crappie? I put some in a pond & they seem to be reproducing so I take a few out every year but they aren’t getting very big ? Pond is maybe 3 acres

Gail's youngest daughter graduated from Clay City High School on Saturday and we had a cookout for her afterwards. Once our bellies were full someone mentioned fishing so I ran back to the house and grabbed 10 or so rods. We started at the "new" pond and didn't have a lot of luck other than a few small gills. I walked across the driveway to the old pond and caught a big crappie on my first cast. That's all it took for everyone else to join me! Wish we would have kept track of what we caught because it was madness until about dark when the bugs started biting bad. We would have on 3 or 4 crappie at a time! Also added several big hybrid bluegills and small bass.
Last night Gail and me went back and it was pretty much the same. Those crappie are hungry! Also had to deal with a couple aggressive water snakes that must have been nesting right where we were fishing. We're going to go back next weekend to try and catch some to keep so that's when they'll probably quit biting. :-[

We hit the ponds this afternoon. I didn't have high hopes because of the muddy water but it didn't hurt the bite a bit. My catches all came on a pink and yellow Slab Daddy jig under a bobber tipped with a beemoth. Kept enough for a little fish fry that we just finished up.
