We had quite the evening at the ponds today! The newer pond that is; the old pond is still not producing anything but bass. I was doing chores and moving some boards that were behind the cabin and found a few worms underneath them. Decided to cast out a couple rods to try and catch a catfish for supper. Didn’t have both rods out when I caught a keeper gill and while I was messing with that I caught my catfish. Yelled at Gail to get out here and it was on after that. Kept 12 gills, 2 crappie, and the channel cat. Gail kept fishing while I cleaned fish and ended up catching the biggest bluegill I’ve seen come out of the ponds. A huge female that I wish I had got a measurement on. She threw it back and I hope the video will do it justice because the photos don’t. She probably caught 7 or 8 more while was cleaning fish including another big crappie. I captured a lot of the action on video that I’ll post later this week.

Needed to fry up my little bit of mushrooms last night so I decided to catch a couple fish to go with them. I wanted a couple crappie from the woods pond but still no luck there. Switched ponds and caught 2 nice thick 9 inchers that I cleaned whole. They were delicious but unfortunately I had the grease too hot when I did the shrooms and they tasted like burnt popcorn. 😔

Wow, went to Spencer this morning to get more minnows from the fish truck. They were there until 9, I got there at 8:45 and there were probably 40 people in line and no place to park! I didn't need them that bad lol

Fished for dinner this evening. Kept 10 gills and a couple small bass. The bluegill were nice and thick! Still nothing out of the woods pond. Can't figure that out.

Another fatty. Gail measured this one at 9.5 inches. Most were females and looked like they had eggs but they were just fat. 😁 Almost all were caught from the dock and I think the males are in the shallows guarding the nests.

I was feeding the fish this week and saw the biggest bluegill I've ever seen in these ponds. Thought it was a bass at first. It had been almost all catfish coming up to feed but now the bluegill outnumber the cats.

Caught supper tonight while Gail was finishing up the pantry. Kept about a 10# channel cat, a whopper crappie, dink bass, and a couple gills including this nice thick one.

I have to agree with you. Sorry to see what happened.
I have been on a volunteer tree board for 20 years in the nearby small town I grew up in. We are involved with the trees along the streets and in the town parks with numerous pruning workdays and spring planting events. Our small budget from the town gets used more for cost sharing tree removal and/or crown cleaning than planting. Smaller trees that are pruned to remove as many of the bad growth patterns as possible when young, help to eliminate many of the destructive failures later during the tree's life. Some trees just see more damage during high wind events than others.

Our latest project; screened in porch. I gotta say, Gail may have missed her calling. She come up with the design of the pantry and now the porch and I think both are going to look really good.
