Put dad in the two man stand over my bean plot this morning and he put down a big boy. His second deer. 50 yard shot. I would have it on film but the camera died due to the cold I guess. Oh well. Big 10 , symmetrical Idk what it scores but i'm guessing 135- 145 hit in shoulder, ran through the beans and started carrying his front leg then ran his nose into the ground and went down quick. We were pumped! Killed at 7:30 i believe. Told dad to get it mounted but he said he didnt want to, so looks like im doing another skull mount. Attachments:

Triple drop tine buck killed by my buddy's uncle. I think he said 17 points Scored about 170 . Big bucks dropping like flies! Attachments:

I put a doe down on the gun opener with the 450. Sunday results were seeing no bucks and 2 does for the entire day. Going back out Thursday.  |

This was my only day off out of 7 days and with this perfect "hanging" weather I was really wanting to put one on the gambrel.  With the help of Chase's suggestion, I decided to try one of our old standby spots. With it being only 20 degrees with 20 mph winds, I decided to just stay on the ground and lean against a tree so I could keep the blood flowing to my toes. Didn't see another living creature until a little before sunset when a doe walked out in the cut cornfield. Had her on video and in the scope a few times, but there was always a twig or something in the way. Was finally going to take the shot and my fingers were so cold I was afraid I couldn't find the trigger. Stuck em down my pants to warm them up when another deer come out in the field and started chasing the doe I was watching. Looked through the scope thinking it was a buck, but it didn't have any horns and didn't look any bigger than the one I was watching.  I kept trying to get them on camera and get an open shot, but they stayed about 75 -100 yards out and it was getting dark. I finally gave up and just wanted to go home and warm up when I heard something coming down the field edge from the left. Turned on the camera, even though it was too dark to film, and a buck walked right by me at 10 yards. Had enough light in the scope so I pulled the trigger and dropped him. I was so cold that I just packed my gear and went home to soak up some heat before even looking at him. Went back on the ranger and he was a little bigger than I thought. Eight point with a little crab claw on the left side.  Sorry about the terrible pic, I thought the wife's "smart phone" would take better pictures than this!   |

Real nice buck Troy! I haven't seen a good buck in two weeks. They have seemed to disappear. Opening weekend was the worst I had ever experienced as far as seeing deer goes. I've went from seeing 15-30 deer every sit to only seeing 7 deer the entire opening weekend. SMH
