Thanks guys. Not a monster, but I'm not real picky. He is one of the wider deer I've taken at 16 inches. He was lucky to be alive; had 2 huge gashes on the back of his neck from fighting and one hole almost went to his spine. One more doe to go on my bundle license and I'm tagged out!

You didn't leave much hide for the taxidermist to work with!!

Nice Buck! I thought opening morning was the best in a long time! Way better than last year! Never seen so many big deer hitting the ground! Maybe Strippitman is hunting in the spot where they always go to hide, if so, hang tight, they will be back shortly. lol

Wow! some great deer being taken here. We don't start gun season here in Maryland till the 29th. Gonna hit it hard that whole weekend trying to put one on the ground.

Happened to catch a show on the Outdoor Channel this afternoon called "Summit's High Places" and the host, Joe Thomas, was hunting his new property "near Terre Haute, Indiana." Looked like some sweet stripper hills surrounded by fields. He missed a big palmated buck with a muzzleloader and then killed an old 6 point. Funny thing was he killed the buck from a metal folding chair instead of one of the sponsors tree stands!

Cut up my buck today, what a PAIN it was getting the skin off! I've left the skin on deer before and it peeled right off, not sure what made this one so tough.

Did you use the UTV to skin that deer?

Did you use the UTV to skin that deer? I tried, but the ranger just spun all 4 wheels. I was afraid I'd break the the rope if I give it too much of a jerk. Had to skin it on down by hand.
