I am gonna be going on two big excursions this year that I will post on a reply to this new thread. I would like everyone to post any vacations or short excursions that they are planning for this year. Then, after you complete the trip, post how the trip went and what you liked/disliked about it. I am hoping this thread will give all of us some ideas of "new" places to visit for our own future adventures.
P.S. The trips don't have to be outdoor adventures, just any trip to anywhere.

So, the first of my two "big" trips for this year will be over spring break the first full week of April. My wife, the kids and I, will be heading to Hilton Head, SC. I hope to get a little golfing in but also I have convinced the wife to go on a fishing charter. This is a miracle in itself (my wife is very non-outdoors)! I first talked to her about going on a catfish trip on Santee Cooper (which I really, really wanted to do) but she wasn't thrilled about being on a pontoon for 8 hrs. So, the next day she sent me links to some deep sea fishing charters she liked and I'm getting ready to schedule an excursion! My wife wanted to go on a shark fishing one but they only do those from June-September. I was wanting to chase Tarpon but they won't be that far north yet . But, regardless, it will be a neat trip no matter what we are catching. This is my shot at FOTY ! I just received a call from brother-in-law which prompted big excursion #2. I am really excited about this one. Me, him and several of his friends are going to Isle Royale National Park, which sits right in the middle of Lake Superior, at the end of August. They all have went as a group every year for the last 5-6 yrs. This will be new to me. We will drive up to Copper Harbor, MI and board a ferry which takes 4 hours to get you to this remote island. The island contains several "inland" lakes which contain northern pike, walleye, trout and salmon, as well as, panfish. We setup "camp" and tent camp the entire week. We will be fishing and traveling via canoe. The food we take on the island will be limited so we will have to "live" off what we catch. I am so excited! August can't get here fast enough I, of course, will be making my usual few trips down to the Linton strip pits and visiting Troy and Monty (hopefully we can make arrangements to get together and fish a couple of times). I will be sure to reply back to this thread to report on how my excursions went.

That Lake Superior trip sounds like a good one. My vacations this year will be in July and November (taking 2 weeks in November, bet you can't guess what I'll be doing). The July vacation is still pending. It's basically our shutdown at work but if we are behind for any reason we'll work a couple of those days to catch up and build inventory. I'm not really planning anything big just small trips here and there.

Strippitman, have fun in Hilton Head. I went there a couple years ago with my family and had a blast. It is my favorite vacation destination now. Great fishing and golfing.
As for me, my family and I have a couple trips that are still in the planning stages, so I will post on here again when I know what we are doing for sure.

Sounds like your going to have a great vacation. Living off the land sounds like a blast. I have always wanted to do something like that. I'm heading to Kentucky Lake for Spring Break. We're staying @ Big Bear Resort and Marina. Going to do a little crappie and bass fishing. Trying to get a little R&R before the tournament trail starts. In June me and a bunch of guys are heading to Leech Lake MN to do some walleye and pike fishing. This has been a annual trip for the past several years. Every weekend is a vacation for me and my family getting to travel and do what I love to do. I'm very blessed.

Heading back down to Gatlinburg for spring break this year. Got a cabin booked for April 4-8. Took the 5th wheel down in 2006, but with gas prices the way they are, cheaper to go this route. If anyone has a "can't miss" activity for that area, let me know. Got a few maybes, but nothing for sure yet. Here's where we're staying. We'll be in Gatlinburg Monday-Friday, then I think we're heading to Nashville for the weekend. Can't wait. Man, I need a vacation!

I love Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge! Have fun we'll be passing close by on our way to Hilton Head. I would highly suggest going to the Dixie Stampede theme dinner one night. Pretty enjoyable experience.

We did the DS in '06 and the kids loved it. So much to do down there, not sure if we'll hit that again or not.

Yeah, even though it is pretty cool, it's hard to make yourself go again when there is so much other stuff to see and experience. Have you played mini golf at the Hillbilly Golf before? That's a pretty unique deal too.

strippitman, hope you and your family have as good a time in Hilton Head as my family did last year! We went to the beach every day. Saw a lot of pretty cool stuff too. Seen jellyfish on the beach and in the water (3 ft. away ) Sharks being caught by surf fishermen, seen a few in the water while we were in it...got out shortly after . Stingrays caught in pools after high tide. Kids had fun collecting shells and finding sand dollars. Ate a ton of GREAT seafood. We probably aren't going to anything that exiting this year, other than going on some camping trips.

Hillbilly Golf is a mini golf course cut out of the side of a mountain. To play you ride cart on a track up to the top of the mountain and play a few holes and then you have to ride it down to play a few more, and so on. Pretty unique!
Have you been to Dollywood before? I was there about 23 yrs ago and it was nearly brand new then. I don't remember much about it. But, the pic's that I have from there tell me I should go back because evidently I had lots of fun.
