I'm finally off after a LONG week at work. Was wanting to go turkey hunting in the morning, but couldn't decide where to go. I was just walking across our backyard thinking about it and busted about a dozen turkeys off a big cedar tree in OUR YARD!

I busted a couple on Sunday when I was walking to the stand. This weekend I'm sitting in a different spot and will probably be in the ground blind. Just one more day of work...and 2 weeks until my vacation!

...and 2 weeks until my vacation! Mine too! I'm excited! I scheduled this vacation back in January. The killer part is waiting for it to get here. I don't know if I'm going to kick myself for not taking the first week of gun or if bow hunting the week before will pay off. At least I'm guarenteed to not have to work the gun opener. The sweet part is I get 20 days vacation next year (only because I'm rolling 5 days over from this year).

The sweet part is I get 20 days vacation next year (only because I'm rolling 5 days over from this year). I scheduled mine last December! It seemed like forever back then, now I only work Mon-Thur then I'm off, woohoo! Almost had me a fall bird a few minutes ago....was walking home from my morning deer hunt and Dad yelled at me that there was 7 turkeys down in the field. I went home, grabbed the shotgun, and went to cut them off at the pass. Walked across the back yard and seen them behind the house, there was crows chasing them and they were headed towards me, I setup and waited, but they turned into a dried up pond. I crawled up to the edge of the pond and they were still there, but about 50 yards out. I would have tried a shot if I had Chase's Beneli, but I had the ol' 20 gauge single shot. I backed away and stood up a little too soon and scared them away. I went around to cut them off again and found them, but they were about a 100 yards away and moving away from me. The wind is blowing pretty good right now and the birds are wanting to stay out in the open. Chase and me are going out now and try to find some in the open and put a sneak on them.

Was it turkey breast for dinner guys or tag soup? My soup tasted sour. No breast meat for dinner, but I'm not making soup yet. Season comes back in December 4th!
