I like using my 870 12 gauge with a modified choke and remington #6 low brass. works well for me.

When I go for squirrels, I use the .22 rifles that my dad used as a kid. My favorite is an old Savage semi-auto that holds 12 bullets in a tubular magazine.

I was just gonna use it for long range varmint hunting and shooting crows long range and stuff like that. And ever since i first saw the .17 cartridge, I've just liked the look of it.

it's such a little tiny round, but the .17 packs a punch and is FAST! just don't shoot any crows that are in the tops of trees. you won't be disappointed with anything from Savage. great company!

I'm panning on putting a nice scope on it and sighting it in for at least a hundred yards.

just stay away from off brand scopes. stay with a good brand like bushnell or nikon.

oh ya i'm gonna try to get a top of the line scope for it cause it will be my first modern bolt action. my dad has a lot of old world war 1 and 2 bolt actions which work great but nothing modern.

I went catfishin last night and was parked in front of the squirrel woods at 3:30am. Slept in my truck until daybreak and went out for two hours. I seen 2 crows and that was it, never heard a squirrel cuttin bird chirping, nothing it was a weird morning for me. Only thing I can guess on the squirrels there, is that the lack of rain has caused few nuts and the squirrels were in the corn field, that looks about ready for harvest. I was sitting under two big hickories with a big beech down the hill from me and several oaks all around. Always been a great spot in the past.
