Well i know Troy already saw this on facebook but yesterday evening me and my buddy went out bowfishing in some flood water off of a creek that connects to the river not far away. Well we got into a BUNCH of buffalo and gar. Well i couldn't hit the broadside of a barn at first. Then my buddy kills a nice 20 lb buffalo and starts braggin about it. Well 5 minutes later i look down just a few feet in the water and see a white mark. Its a white spot on the top of a fishes head. Well it looked like about a 10 pounder when i shot. And the second the arrow connected the water went berserk. It wasn't even close to 10 lbs. We only had my bow between both of us so we decided not to risk it and fight the fish. I grabbed the line and he reached out as far as he could and grabbed it and landed it. It ended up being 43 lbs. (My boss from work has a state certified set of scales and i went to his house to weigh it) only 10 lbs. shy of the state record buffalo. Here's the picture. P.S. i know it doesnt look that heavy but im also 6'5" 245lb haha. Attachments:

I dont know if any of you have been getting up bright and early and heading for the woods but i have a couple times and the birds are really getting fired up now. I went the other day and probably heard 3 dozen gobbles from 4-5 different gobblers.

im ready to try to stomp another gobbler. I havent went a year yet without having killed a bird so hopefully it holds true. Also the carp spawn is coming on fast and that means one thing, bowfishing time!

i was up there fighting the crowds saturday. It really wasnt a very good show this year in my opinion. There were just too many outfitters and guides and not near enough booths actually selling something worth it. As well as the lack of mom and pop stores, it seemed to be all bigger companies and they were selling stuff at about the same price you could find it anywhere else. I ended up walking away with a DU hat, some hooks i got for $1 a package and these cool no tie metal peices that you just twisted the line around and pulled tight to secure it, and its stronger than a normal knot(i know because the guy told me to tie my best knot to a lure on one end of a line and he tied his with the metal piece on the other end and lets just say my knot wasnt as good as i thought). The no tie line ends were without a doubt the only good find in the entire show. Other than that i watched the waterfowl dog seminar and decided to call it a day.

Yea me and my friends were in it pretty hard this year but weve been at it for a couple of years now (this is my 6th year already waterfowling) i only shot two geese this year both in early season and the one right next to the second one my buddy shot and of course it was banded haha. southern zone still goes until the 19th for duck and the 31st for geese so well hit it really hard the next two weeks.

Yep. I'm selling my bow. If I archery hunt next year it will be with a crossbow. dont be to quick on that decision now last year i had 6 misses. 3 with a bow and 3 with a gun. The farthest was about 40 yards too. yet this year ive connected on every shot, although the one was non fatal, i still hit the dagone thing!

Well im kind've behind here but i figure ill just group all these into one post. So tuesday i went out and had a little 5 point come out and figured with shotgun closing soon i may as well just shoot it. dropped it where it stood. Then Thanksgiving morning i got back out there and smoked a doe fawn to fill one of my doe tags. Then yesterday morning i figured i may as well give it one more go round for shotgun seeing as i have to work all day saturday and sunday and ended up blasting a really fat doe at about 9. i think she weighed around 150 field dressed. blew about a 4 inch hole in her side for the entrance wound and didnt have an exit. i was using a cva wolf .50 cal on all three with 150 grains of powder and a tompson center expander bullet. this big girl and her fawn snuck up on me as i was in the stand and i didnt see them until they were 15 yards away. i shot her at about 10 yards. if i wouldve have another doe tag and a shotgun i couldve had her fawn as well. Then to add a little salt to the wound when i looked to my right after the shot there was a nice looking buck at about 30 yards standing broad side but oh well.... heres the pics of the last deer. when i took this picture her fawn was only about 5 yards to my right staring at the dead doe. you can kindve see the hole in her back. I know the shot was high but its sighted in for 150 yards not 5 haha. I'm still unsure if ill buy another anterless tag and go in muzzleloader. This is the first time ive ever been tagged out in shotgun season. Im not sure what im going to do with myself for the rest of the season lol.

well my season just turned a little more sour today. i just completely whiffed a 75 yard shot at a nice buck with my muzzleloader. theres nothing to really blame it on. it was 3:30 so it was definately plenty bright enough, had no clue i was there, standing still in an open field, nothing inbetween us, just goofed it. ah well seasons still young.

well my opening day went horribly. i had to work in the afternoon so i went out in the morning and about 30minutes in i heard what sounded like a truck hitting the ditch up on the road. i just wrote it opff and didnt end up seeing anything. well i was talking to the farmer today and that noise i hear was actually a truck hitting what sounds like was my monster buck i was chasing. it didnt die on the road and they search the fields right abouve where i was hunting and didnt find it. but i did hear a loud crash up from where i was at and didnt hear anything else saturday morning. so tomorrow once the storms have cleared im gonna walk in there and see if i can find him. i really really hope it just wounded him and he made it. but if not im gonna give it my best to try to find him soon before the squirrels and coyotes get it.

hey guys I haven't been on in a long time. Ive been so busy with school work and most importantly hunting that I really haven't gotten on here in a while. I decided to go back to a silage cut for about the 10th time after school yesterday and limited really quickly. And of course youll notice I couldn't resist that pigeon when it landed next to my mojo. anyone else having a great dove season? Ive killed quite a few limits already and the field that these doves came out of has probably had 2000+ doves killed outve it.
