Rainbow trout to be stocked in Midland Lake near Linton
A new trout stocking location for 2014 will be springing up in Greene County.
Midland Lake at Hillenbrand Fish & Wildlife Area is 22 acres with a paved boat ramp and shoreline access. By April 1, DNR will have stocked 1,000 rainbow trout in the lake.
Both a trout/salmon stamp and a fishing license are required for all anglers targeting rainbow trout. The stamp costs $11.
A trout/salmon stamp can be purchased anywhere fishing licenses are sold or online at IndianaOutdoor.IN.gov. Statewide trout bag limits on lakes is five fish per day with a minimum size limit of 7 inches.
Additional rainbow trout stockings in the area also include Airline Pit in Greene-Sullivan State Forest and Maple Lake in Terre Haute.

Good catch ! It's hard to beat those 1/32 oz. rooster tails ! I call them my bread and butter lure. They work when nothing else does, and have provided me with many good fish fries ! I even use them to catch flathead bait in the summer. They are really good lures ! Where did you find to buy them ? I've fixed mine so many times that some are about done for. I haven't seen them sold anywhere for years. __________________________________________________
Martinsville Report
We haven't had any fishing reports coming in. Driving around the other day I noticed that some ponds have a little open water, while others looked like they had a very thin layer of ice. It did not look safe to fish on. White river is high and muddy. No Reports.

Reminds me of a great recipe Johnny Cash made a long time ago. He thought he was using Preperation H for his hemmeroids, but he accidently picked up the wrong tube and applied Ben Gay. Oop's, talk about a burning Ring of Fire ! Just joking, but does sound like a good recipe ! Thanks GreeneDog

Meeting on Boonville reclamation project, Jan. 16
Event Description At a Jan. 16 open house in Boonville, residents can learn about efforts to stabilize streets and other public areas threatened by abandoned underground coal mines.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Reclamation will host the open house at the Boonville-Warrick County Public Library from 2 to7 p.m. CST.
DNR staff will share details of a project to stabilize public areas threatened by subsidence, or surface collapse above underground mines. Construction bids are scheduled to be taken early in the year with construction in early to mid-spring. Work should be complete by the end of summer.
According to Ray Brumfiel, project coordinator, the meeting is to share information with residents and gather any new information that might affect construction.
“We are going to be in a residential area and we want folks to know what is happening in front of their homes,” Brumfiel said. “We are simply moving proactively to do what we can to prevent damage to roads and other public structures in this area.”
Work will focus primarily on East Main, South Charlton, Railroad, Nicholas and Oakdale streets. Other streets may be indirectly affected.
The work is funded through the Abandoned Mine Lands portion of the federal mining and reclamation program, and administered for Indiana through DNR.
By law, the stabilization project cannot address problems on private property, except to remedy imminent public hazards. However, the state offers a mine subsidence insurance program. DNR strongly encourages property owners to pursue that option. Normal homeowner insurance does not cover subsidence damage.
For more information on mine subsidence insurance, contact the Indiana Subsidence Insurance Fund at the Indiana Department of Insurance at (317) 232-2385, or toll-free in Indiana at (800) 622-4461, or see IN.gov/idoi/2526.htm (click on “Types of Insurance”).
For more information on the stabilization project, call the DNR Division of Reclamation field office in Jasonville at (812) 665-2207, or toll free in Indiana at (800) 772-6463. Contact Information: Name: Jack McGriffin Phone: (317) 232-1551 Email: dnrnews@dnr.in.gov

“Area A” no longer part of Minnehaha Fish & Wildlife Area
Effective immediately, “Area A” at Minnehaha Fish & Wildlife Area will no longer be part of the property and as a result will be off limits to public use.
All land at Minnehaha is leased from Peabody Energy, which is conducting an extensive wetland mitigation project on Area A. The DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife and Peabody agreed to remove Area A from the lease agreement out of safety concerns.
Area A was a 1,050-acre tract of bottomland forest, marsh and lakes on the FWA’s southwest corner and a popular spot for hunters, anglers and trappers.
Property manager Brad Feaster said the change is likely permanent and that currently there are no plans for Area A to become part of Minnehaha again after Peabody completes work.
The remaining nearly 5,000 acres of Minnehaha remain open as usual.
Minnehaha is located two miles east of Sullivan on State Road 54 and managed by Goose Pond Fish & Wildlife Area.
