Have you ever tried any shallow cranks or stick baits for those saugeye? This time of year I would concentrate on the weed edges around and inside of turns in the contour or drop offs. What kind of forage is in Sullivan? Are there a lot of baitfish or young of the year panfish? I think it's very important to match the hatch. #5 shallow shadraps work really good for me up hear on eyes. The smaller Rick Clunn cranks that Wal-Sucks has have been pretty good too. Oh ya, low light conditions are your best bet for fishing shallow. I would also concentrate on wind blown shores or weed lines especially if it's been blowing the same way for awhile. Boat control might stink during the wind, but the wind can be your best friend at times.

strippitman, hope you and your family have as good a time in Hilton Head as my family did last year! We went to the beach every day. Saw a lot of pretty cool stuff too. Seen jellyfish on the beach and in the water (3 ft. away ) Sharks being caught by surf fishermen, seen a few in the water while we were in it...got out shortly after . Stingrays caught in pools after high tide. Kids had fun collecting shells and finding sand dollars. Ate a ton of GREAT seafood. We probably aren't going to anything that exiting this year, other than going on some camping trips.

Like everybody said, ice fishing is very addicting. Flashers are very handy. I won't leave home without it. The big advantage with flashers is fishing deeper water were the fish may be suspended. There are many different choices in flashers: Vexilar, Marcum, Hummingbird, Lowrance and some off brands. Since your a first timer, I suggest going out with someone that has been before. A spud bar is very handy too. I won't go any farther on less than two solid hits before it breaks threw. Watch out for springs too. Have fun and be safe!

Capt. Rick is da man! He had us on fish all day. If you ever have a opportunity to fish on the Erie Quest do it! You won't be disappointed! This was the second time I've had a chance to fish with Capt. and both times were a BLAST. Can't wait to get out with ya again Capt. either on the Erie Quest or on the ice.

Decided to walk supper off last night and found these. Took my daughter out for the first time this year after school today. She found the first one! It was also the first one she has ever found by herself also. The two biggest. Triplets!

Hit the Maumee with a buddy and got a couple. I caught 2 in the mouth and snagged one and lost 4 others. My buddy snagged one and lost 3. Conditions were less than ideal, raining and visibility 1-2 inches. My buddy wussed out and we left before I could limit out . That's the last time he goes with me! All snagged fish were released, Ohio DNR don't take to kindly to you keeping them lol. 19 in. and around 23 1/2 in.
