This morning I got up at 5:30 and was in the stand and ready at 6:30. At first light, I hear what I'm pretty sure were deer running behind me. We have the buddy stand set up on the side of a stripper hill. The wind was blowing straight toward the deer so I'm guessing they got whiff. It was pretty slow after that. Finally, after falling asleep a couple times, I hear something behind me. A lonely hen. By this time I had heard 40+ shots around me and I was dieing to see a deer! A little after 10, I was almost ready to go but made myself try to wait out all the other hunters and maybe get something spooked toward me. Then I catch sight of a deer across a pond in our woods. Seeing the sun shine off the horns, I knew it was a buck. He comes around the pond and heads right for me. After looking at him through the scope, I decide I would take him if he offered a shot. He stops at around 40 yds and I let him have it. He ran around 50 yds and dropped. The shaking set in after I shot, I could hardly hold the phone to call Booey and Mom. I got the shot on video but I didn't get him walking in. I think you can also see him drop. Overall a good morning! I'm definitely happy with my first (antlered) buck! Trailcam pic of him. Right before the shot.

bad day today for me. couldn't hunt the morning due to a basketball game. we lost but who knew a 7th grader cold dunk? at 12:30 i got to the blind, sat until sundown and didn't see any life at all. i swear thats probably the only night in a month there hasn't been deer in that field. good job on your buck chase. also my neighbor got a really nice 9 pointer on my property

Way to go Chase. The most impressive part is that you killed him after 10a.m. Most guys don't have the discipline to stay on stand that long. I hunted until about 11a.m. this morning but no way could I have done that when I was your age. I would have been ready to stomp around by 8 . No luck for me today just a parade of does.

Yeah, I usually shoot a doe or two myself. But I was using my muzzle loader and If a big buck was following them I didn't want to get caught with my ram rod out if you know what I mean.

I have one quick question, did you shoot the buck with a slug or buckshot?
