i talked my dad into letting me go hunting, so i got up at 6:30, packed up the decoys, headed out. i was hunting too little puddles where 5-6 shovelers came in each morning, the only problem was that tthere was no cover around the lake. i figured it was dark enough that morning i'd able to get by. just as i got setup i heard a loud whoosh right above my head. i never knew those things could be so loud! it was rweally a little dark to shoot so i waited. the duck landed on th other side of the lake(which is just out of range) followed by 5 more shovelers. i think if i had a feeding chuckle i coulda got em in range when it was light. After an hour of waiting for them to get in range and watching 1,000's of geese fly by they moved on.so i sat there for about another 30 minutes or so and then left. it was stilla fun trip and i think i'll be able to hunt alot more this year

Sounds like a pretty good first solo hunt to me.
