Good luck to all the deer hunters! Archery season opens tomorrow and will be in until January 3rd, except for a short break from Nov 30 to Dec 4th. Shoot straight and be safe!

No luck today, but we did see a bunch of does and a small buck. We'll be at it again tomorrow and this weekend!

No luck here either. We decided to stay on the ground since Sam hasn't had a lot of practice out of a stand yet. I saw a couple does, but they were across some brush where Sam couldn't see them. I'm working the next three days, so we're done until Monday.

Booey's first hunt was interesting. As we were walking down the hayfield toward our stand, there were already 2 does out in the field feeding. We went into the woods and I ditched the 3rd Arm and backpack, then we snuck up along the field. It looked like one of the does was going to feed right to us, the other one had walked into the woods. I thought Booey was gonna get a clear standing shot, but the doe in the field decided to follow the other one into the woods. At this point we weren't sure what to do, we decided to sneak to our buddy stand and see if we could get up it without spooking the deer. We climbed the stand and got settled and I look over and the 2 does are only 50 yards away eating acorns! They walked around eating acorns forever, and went back into the hayfield a couple times, but never did come our way. They disappeared for a while, then when we seen them again, they were in the hayfield and this time there were 4 does. They came back into the woods and it looked like Booey would get his chance. They stayed just out of range though, and eventually fed away as it got dark. I know that got Booey's heart rate up though, because the stand was shaking while I was trying to video them! Can't wait to try it again tomorrow.

Chase was hunting at the edge of the beanfield where he's shot all the "Summer Buck" footage. He watched a doe at 100+ yards, then as he was leaving, he stepped into the field and there was a doe feeding only 30 yds away. He froze, and while he was watching it a head popped with antlers! It was a small 7 pointer he's got on video before. He just stayed still until they fed away, and was able to get away without spooking them.
