Time for a suppressor update. Still waiting. As of today the average wait time is 291 days. I'm on day 243. With every day that passes that wait time could (will most likely) become longer. If it doesn't change then Oct. 4 would be my day. Hoping to get the stamp in the first half of October. Patience sure is a virtue when stepping into the NFA game. If I really wanted to shoot one of my firearms with the suppressor I could do so but that requires a membership at the dealers indoor range. Since the owner of the shop/range still owns the suppressor I bought then I could go there and use it since it would technically not be leaving his possession (my wording may not be 100% correct on that but it's something along those lines). When I'm done at the range then the suppressor would go back into NFA jail (for me, it still stays with the dealer) until my stamp is approved.

Should be in bed right now but I'm not. Today (the 23rd) is day 280. I've been reading updates from other people waiting on their stamp and the majority aren't seeing their stamps until the 11th month mark. If that's the case I won't see my stamp until the end of deer firearm season.

Day 294. I don't want to do it but I may have to call and get an update. Current average wait time on NFAtracker.com is 293 days. Reading some of the posts it is taking some people close to a year while others are 6 months-ish. I don't get it.

Early AM hours of Nov 7, day 325...no news. I also have not made that phone call yet. Vacation starts this weekend (for 3 weeks) so maybe I'll call them during that time frame. I really don't think it will do me any good if I do call. Chances are all they'll tell me is that it's pending. I did read that the ATF went to a new system so that is why some only had to wait 4-5 months. Anything submitted before the change that took place in June is in the old system and takes time. Requests made now are going to take roughly 6 months if that.

I swear I'm going to make that call today...later today...after I go to bed and get back up. Day 340 with no news. I was reading the forum on NFAtracker and one guy was just approved and it took him 416 days. Now that the new system is in place another individual only had to wait 3 months. The new system is for individual forms only. If paperwork is submitted under a trust it still falls under the old system. They will eventually go to the new system for trust applications. I just want my suppressor. Starting to think I could go buy another and get it before I get the first one.

So...a big lesson learned today and hopefully those of you who are interested in getting a suppressor learn from my mistake. When you first mention that you're going to call the ATF for an update...do it. My purchase was approved on Oct 5 and was available for pickup on Oct 19. It's been sitting at the dealer for over a month waiting on me. The dealer does claim that they did call me on the 19th and left me a voicemail. I have no reason to doubt them. I don't know what happened to the voicemail though. I just wish they would've attempted another call. So today was day 340; it was ready for pickup on day 306. Here is my Sig Sauer SRD762 suppressor. A now suppressed 308 AR10.

Congrats Spainy. Sounds like that was quite the ordeal.

The sad part is I'm already anticipating my next one. I would like to have a small, 22cal handgun that I can suppress and take into the deer woods with me to shoot squirrels with. I'm not joking. I'm already looking as thanks to this time of year the deals usually start to make appearances.

That's a great idea! So far this year I've seen 6 deer and 975,236 squirrels. 😁

A quick vid of shooting the 6.8SPC suppressed. I would like to get out later this week and do a big comparison video using a few different calibers.

I've picked up another new acquisition recently only this one set me back a little bit but it's also a rifle I've been eyeballing for several years. I attempted to purchase one back in November but it fell through. Towards the end of January some new manufactured PSL rifles from Romania became available. The one I tried to buy in Nov. was a surplus gun and had been issued. This one is brand new, never issued. The barrel even has the "2019" stamp on it. They were selling as a package if desired with an optic and I opted to get the optic with it. So I've had this thing for 2 weeks now and I shot it the first weekend I had it. This thing ejects shells like no one's business and will crush your eardrums if not wearing ear pro. Ask me how I know. With a 24" barrel I didn't think it would be that bad...was I wrong. The gun is chambered for 7.62x54R; same as the Mosin Nagant. Only with this you get all the fun in a semi auto package. I am having an issue with the optic as this time and I'm not having the best of luck in getting the issue resolved. I'll have to update on that later. I will say this about the rifle. Don't expect sub moa accuracy with these. They're 3 moa/100M at best. For what these cost if you want something fairly accurate your funds may be better spent elsewhere. This is really just a fun shooter. Might possibly be one of the better "fun guns" I own. I'm still doing some research to see what I can do to help it's accuracy though. Time will tell. For now here's my new Combloc.
