Ok, another item added to my Florida bucket list! I didn't even realize until recently that you could legally harvest oysters in Florida. Come to find out you can do it in one of mine and Gail's favorite little spots south of St Augustine. The season is closed in the summer and areas may be closed after periods of heavy rain due to runoff. The oyster has to be at least 3 inches and the bag limit is 2 60# bags. Definitely don't need that many, but I would like to get a bucket full or so and make some oysters Rockefeller. Would love to take the kayak out and harvest some like I did the hen of the woods mushrooms years ago! Here's a map of the area I'll most likely be trying. Our fishing spot is on Rattlesnake Island and if I had known you could harvest them there I would have been looking! ccmedia.fdacs.gov/content/download/5803/file/SHA_Class_Map_SouthStJohns_88.pdfmyfwc.com/fishing/saltwater/recreational/shellfish/

That is cool stuff! I did not realize they could be attached like that. Some of those clusters he picked apart were huge!

I just found this video from last fall where Bluegabe joins Tug Trash to harvest some oysters. At the end they grill them right on the oyster reef. Had me drooling!
