Does anyone on here do much rabbit hunting? I used to hunt a lot when I lived in Kokomo, but that was 20 years ago. I am going to give it a try again this year and will probably head to Tri-County FWA south of Lake Wawasee. I figure if I get there on Nov. 1st, it will be a Wednesday and the young guys will still be working during the morning. I am not a big fan of cold weather anymore, but I am not going to get one killed for the frying pan sitting on the couch.

It's funny, we gave a young Amish family some furniture the other day and I delivered it and the family back to their place way out in the country towards Freedom. When we turned onto their road rabbits kept running out in front of us and I asked if he rabbit hunted lol. He didn't but he does a lot of coon hunting. We had beagles growing up and I do miss it. It seems rabbits were almost extinct at one time but I've been seeing a lot the past several years. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

The first trip out was great exercise at Tri-County FWA. Forgot how much energy it takes to wade through waist high grass and briars. I lasted just over an hour and a half. Covered some good areas in that time, but think I need to find somewhere with a little easier walking unless I can convince my buddy from Kokomo to come up and bring his dog. Typical FWA property with crop rows of corn and sunflowers. Lots of honeysuckle filled tree lines and fence rows. At 10:30 there were only 3 people signed to hunt small game. I did not see any rabbits. Heard a hunter's dog running one in the next area across the road. I talked to him and they had not got the rabbit yet, still running. Oh well, till next time. Sure was fun getting out for a while in a little snow up here.

Another quick morning hunting in the field and then a little scouting of some new areas yet to walk. Heard some beagles running a rabbit, but still no rabbits went in my game pouch. Probably give the weekend a break to let the worker bees have their go at it. Maybe it will cool down again next week.

I do a little bit of it. I used to go a lot several years ago. We usually don't start hunting them until after the firearms season is over with, though, because we are all deer hunters. My buddy has 2 really good beagles that he bought a couple of years ago. They do most of the work! LOL

Finally got on the board this afternoon. A young guy with 2 young beagles stopped next to the field I was hunting and ask if he could join me with his dogs for a while. Of course I said, sure! His pups are only 5 and 6 months old he told me but they did a good job getting one up for us and running it in a big circle and back to me. Sure is a lot easier hunting when the dogs get into the briar patches. I got one finally, picture to post and a rabbit!!!
