Went over to our new spot on the salt today. Had bought some mud minnows to try and something was biting them in two. Probably bluefish or small sharks. The girl at the bait shop said there was a bunch of sharks inshore. Put a bobber on for Gail and it wasn’t long before she hooked up on her first ever flounder! If they hadn’t raised the size limit last year it would have been a keeper. After a while the bite stopped so we went down the road to a park we had never fished. At this place there was a concrete wall along the water with tons of oysters on it and Chase thought there might be sheepshead there. He started getting bites on fiddler crabs so it wasn’t long before we were all trying for sheeps. Chase had one hooked that got off then hooked a short. Gail was getting frustrated with missing them so I tried her spot and after a few misses hooked up with what would have been my PB. Unfortunately it came off before I could flip it over the wall. Gail ended up hooking up with her first sheep and it was a keeper at just under 13”. Chase had cast a mud minnow way out and something took off with it that couldn’t be stopped. Ended up dragging the line across some oyster beds and shredded the line. Gail got into some mangrove snapper and caught a bunch but they were all short. This spot was definitely fishy and we’re thinking about going back.

Went back to Port Orange this morning but not much luck. Several small mangroves and 1 small sheepshead.

Flounder are such a weird, but cool fish.

Maybe one of these days we'll actually catch a keeper! They upped the size limit from 12" to 14" last year.
