Seen 2 deer the entire weekend. 1 Saturday morning around 730am and didn't see the second until Sunday evening around 5:15pm. This may have been my worst opener in quite a while if not ever. I know there are people out there who tagged their buck but no one from my family pulled the trigger this weekend or seen hardly any deer. Back home to take my dog to the vet to get fixed and then I'll get back at it later this week.

I hunted all weekend and saw one deer...a pretty decent buck. I hunted through 40mph and driving snow yesterday evening. It was miserable.

It was the same down here Matt, other than more rain than snow. I was outside at work yesterday morning and I swear it was raining slush balls. 😂

I only heard 7 shots opening weekend & none were even close to us in Sullivan county. We saw some yearlings & a fork horn & that’s it . I put it on top as worst opening weekend of gun season ever

Just had a buck walk in front of the camera. Only had a bb, spike, and forky the past few days. Not seeing the does anymore either. 🤷♂️

Looks like he is prowling for some action. Someone needs to punch a hole in his ribs.

I passed on a nice 7 pointer the other night. You see me talk myself in and out of shooting him a couple times on the GoPro footage.

He was begging for you to shoot him! I rarely get bucks to hang around me for that long. Cool hunt!

Well, I got it done one week ago today. I had a huge 9 point that was tending a doe for 3 evenings straight a week and a half before firearms season opened. I had him close all three nights but just not close enough for the bow. I was really hoping he would give me a peak during firearms season but we haven't seen him since that last night I saw him. I was really wanting that deer but I wasn't going to ruin my season by making him that only deer I would take. I was very fortunate this year to see more bucks than I've ever seen in any one season. Mostly little bucks but, honestly, I had many more opportunities to harvest bucks this year than does. I actually had an opportunity to shoot a really nice 8 point on the first evening of firearms I had him at 50 yds standing on the edge of a standing corn field and I couldn't see his rack very good at all. Then he started walking away from and at about 100 yds I realized his rack was much bigger than I realized but with a 30mph crosswind I did not feel comfortable with that shot and then he walked down the fencerow and got harvested by a hunter that I didn't even know was there. Shucks!!! Oh well, that's firearms season for ya. Anyhow, I had this buck appear out of nowhere last Tuesday evening at 4:50. I only had a couple seconds to make a decision to shoot this guy or else he was going to be in thick cover with no chance at a shot. I scanned his rack with my scope and saw one really nice tine on the side facing me (he was walking broadside from right to left at about 75yds) and I said to myself "shoot now, and ask questions later". I dropped the crosshairs of my muzzleloader into the kill zone and squeezed the trigger. He ran about 40 yds and disappeared into some fallen trees but then I could see him kicking pretty hard on the ground. I knew he was done at this point. Then all of sudden it hit me...I was like "what did I just shoot?" We have several half racks on our property and instantly I thought "I hope I didn't just shoot a half rack" I knew he was pretty decent but I really didn't know what he was. It took me a bit to find because I thought he was a little further back into the woods than he actually was. I had to walk right past him the first time because he was hidden behind a log. Once I finally found him this was what I saw... I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't able to get any good pictures because by the time my buddies got there to help it was dark and then I woke up to 60 degree temps then next morning and knew I had to get it to the butcher asap. This is all I got...
