Wow! That turned out a lot better than I expected. Not that I ever doubted ya. Hopefully everything will stay in place as it dries out. Bet you'll be hearing from a lot of turkey hunters wanting details or making offers. Second best part about killing a jake is....I'll be having my first wild turkey for supper tonight.

Not that I ever doubted ya. Yeah, right. You thought I was nuts when you left yesterday! The tail is just pinned in place, I'm hoping I'll be able to use it like it is, or with the tail up like it's strutting. Chase was walking with me to put it in the barn and the wind caught the tail and pulled the pins out. We were shocked how real it looked with the tail going up and down. Can't wait to use it next year! We're having turkey for supper too!

That will be killer!! I watched a video on Osceola Turkey hunting in Florida once. The guy at the farm had made a decoy similar to yours and said it worked 10X better than plastic..Thats just toooo cool.

WWhat was the total cost to make that though? Well, the only thing I had to buy was a set of markers that had light blue and red, everything else I found in the garage. So........total cost: $3

Here's what he looks like almost a year later. Chase and me added some color to the head.... I have the tail rigged up with some fishing line and a three way swivel so I can make it look like he's getting ready to strut. The finished head. The snood is part of an old jig tail and his beard is a piece of bailing twine. We're hoping to make a star out of 'em this spring.

Besides a decoy it's also kinda like a mount.
