Last Saturday we were planning to go fish a pond at my buddy's great aunt's house. I knew the pond held some good bass, and I figured the dink bluegill at the pond in the local park would be the perfect bait. I set out in the morning to catch a few to take with us...
Esau and I went back to retrieve our minnow trap then we were off to see if he could catch his first largemouth...
It wasn't the big bass I was hoping he'd hook into, but he was excited either way and that is the important part.

Way to go Esau!! He's funny! When I was his age we lived on a small farm that had a little pond in the pasture. My grandpa would come over and catch little bluegill to use for bait on the White River. He would use a cane pole with just a tiny gold hook and usually no bait and would just catch them one after another.

Thanks. He really enjoys doing the videos and it does crack me up with some of the stuff he says when the camera is rolling.
I was using a size 10 hook and it is still too big for most of those gills. I tried just throwing the bare hook, which they would go for after it had a crappie nibbler on it, but I couldn't get them hooked.
That's as small as the hooks get on the BPS site. I may have to finally invest in that micro fishing rig I've talked about for a while.
