I posted this pic on a hunting Griffons facebook page and it has over 140 likes. Daffy has already got more love on fb than I'll ever get!

She going to be ready for birds this fall? Not sure yet. I'm having a heck of a time finding any birds to get her on. I have 35 chukar chicks ordered that were supposed to be here the week of May 25th from Murray McMurray Hatchery but they've canceled on me twice so far. Now they're saying they will ship the week of June 8th. I bought a pigeon trap but haven't had any luck with it either. Might try catching some with a light and dip net this week out of the polebarns.

Welp...chukar order has now been moved to June 15th. Not sure what the holdup is. With 3 or 4 months for the birds to be full grown it's gonna be hunting season before these would even be ready.

My little chickadees are en route! Hopefully it all goes well. I don't have a lot of confidence in my local post office though.

I knew better than to get the birds while I was working. I was assured that if I left detailed instructions on what to do with them they would be fine. That wasn't the case. It's my fault...I knew better. As of this evening there's 7 still alive. Surprised there's that many with the way they looked the first evening I got home from work. Oh well. Live and learn.

Shot my first bird over Daffy today. She did good! Planted a chukar in a fence row. At first she wasn't sure what she was supposed to do but I coerced her into the weeds and she figured it out pretty quick. She made a nice point on the bird but I do need to work on her "whoa" training. I just about let the bird get away but made a long shot on it. Daffy found the bird but this was her first time with a real bird in her mouth and she pretty much just held it penned to the ground. We'll have to work on that too.

Drove down to south of Loogootee tonight to All Star Game Birds and picked up 20 bobwhites. I think Daffy and me will start our own Thanksgiving tradition tomorrow.

Well, they didn’t all fly as good as I had hoped, but Daffy did find all 7 that I put out for her. I’ll try to get the video done over the weekend.
