I noticed the JVC camera a bunch of us bought a few years ago has a continuous record mode. Anyone ever use that? I'm thinking it is similar to the loop mode that the GoPro has, but wasn't sure.
BTW...I jumped in with both feet and ordered a self-filming setup. Found a good deal on the Fry's website for an open box Canon HF G30, then picked up everything else through Amazon. Went with the Fourth Arrow Stiff Arm, a Manfrotto fluid head, Rode external mic and a VariZoom LANC controller. I'm hoping to use the JVC as my second angle camera, but looks like you can find good deals on eBay for a GoPro Hero 4.
You get the battery pack for the GoPro on eBay?

You're gonna be SET! I've been eyeing the Canon G20 which looks a lot like what you got. Here's a link to the new version of my battery pack or "power bank" I guess is what they are actually called. amzn.to/2DwMLRCYou just need a USB port to plug the charger cable in. I like these because you can see how much charge is left by the lights on the outside. I've went a couple hunts without charging it and it has never ran out. The loop mode is also great for fishing. You can have the power bank in your pocket plugged into the camera strapped to your chest. I didn't get that JVC camera so not sure. Dad has upgraded to the GoPro session. It looks like the newer sessions have loop mode. Not sure about all of them.

Keep an eye on eBay and hunting forums. I see the G20 pop up at a decent price from time to time.
