The bucks were on their feet today. I was hunting a stand I haven't seen much from. I was actually thinking about where I should move it or hang another one when at about 8 I saw a buck in the field. I did a few grunts and I think I may have rose him from his bed in a thicket in a sliver of woods between fields in front of me. He came right in to 25 yards but he was walking quick and I struggled getting the camera on him and my bow drawn. Not sure what happened. He just caught me off guard. About a half hour later I see another buck in the power line clearance. He worked a scrape and was going the other way when I grunted at him. It was no time and I saw his rack coming my way. He read the script perfectly and gave me a 15 yard shot. I double lunged him and he died 20 yards away from me in the woods. I couldn't believe I went from not seeing a thing to having two nice bucks come in! It ended up being a big bodied 8. I think the first one might've had a little nicer rack but seemed younger. Not sure. I'm getting ready to start working on the video.

Awesome video, Chase! And, a solid bow kill. Nice to see someone still using a compound. Looks similar to my Mathews S2.

You even caught him doing the drunken stuper before toppling over. Good job. What grunt call do you use? It sure had a real nice sound to it.

That was a Primos buck roar I thought maybe that was what it was. I used to have one of those but it has come up missing. I have lost more grunt calls than you could ever imagine. Well, some I've lost, some have quit working properly and some just sounded so bad that I threw them in the trash. I have a Primos call now that you can change the pitch from buck to doe to fawn. However, the mature buck does not sound all that great. It does have snort wheeze though and I have that to be fairly effective.

You can make it sound just how you want and it's loud.
