Took the kayaks over to Tomoka State Park yesterday afternoon. I was trying for flounder in one rod and had a big circle hook with a hunk of ladyfish on the other hoping for a shark. Colton was free lining a shrimp. Nothing happened for a while so we decided to paddle over to this little island for a dip. On the way over my flounder rod went off but it was a small trout. Then Colton hooked up with a keeper mangrove snapper. After cooling off we paddled back into the backwaters. My big rod took off with something BIG. I couldn't slow it down as it headed to open water and when I tried to it cut my line. A little while later it happened again and this time I fought it for a while and it even came out of the water once before cutting me off again. Thinking about going back with steel leaders. Unfortunately I had my back to it because I had paddled to shore to take a breather. Colton saw it though and even got it on video. I can't really tell what it is from the footage but Colton yells "shark!" when it comes up. LOL Colt and me both had gopros on so I'll make a video when we get home. It was a good time!

Nothing worse than a fish that breaks you off and you never get a look at it...especially one that was peeling drag like that.
